Backing Up an ASR Set

To create an ASR set:
1.
Open Backup (by clicking Start > All programs > Accessories > System Tools > Backup).
The Backup or Restore Wizard starts by default, unless it is disabled.
2.
Click the Advanced Mode link on the Backup or Restore Wizard.
3.
On the Tools menu, click ASR Wizard.
4.
Set the ASR Backup destination to the tape drive (4mm digital data storage), the
recommended method, or another hard disk:

5.
Follow the instructions on-screen.
After creating the ASR set, label this floppy disk and backup media carefully and keep them
together. To use the backup media, you must have the floppy disk that you created with that set
of media. You cannot use a floppy disk created at a different time or with a different set of media.
You must also have your Windows Server 2008 CD available at the time you perform Automated
System Recovery.

Recovering from a System Failure Using an ASR Set

To recover from a system failure using ASR:
1.
Ensure that you have the following items available before you begin the recovery procedure:
Your previously created ASR diskette.
Your previously created backup media.
The Windows Installation CD.
2.
Insert the Windows Installation CD into your CD drive.
