PROBLEM
SOLUTION

The TV system of the disc does not match that of your TV (PAL/NTSC).
b
The recording can be made in color only when the TV channels or the connected additional
device sends a color signal. Black-and-white signals without color information (color
subcarriers) cannot be recorded in color.

Check whether the sound settings match the selected inputs and the connected additional
devices.
b
If a recording is too short, it is possible that a DVD player cannot detect it: Please observe
the following 'Minimum recording times':
Recording mode '

Some DVD players cannot playback DVD+RW recordings. You can solve this problem by
using a special function:
Open the disc tray with OPEN/CLOSE J . Insert the disc but do not close the

tray.
Hold down the number button 2 on the remote control until the tray closes. The

disc is modified.
If this fails to produce the desired result, repeat the procedure using the number
3
button 3 on the remote control.
You can restore the disc to its original condition by pressing and holding 1 .

There is a risk that you can no longer play the disc on other DVD players after this
procedure. Therefore, apply this function with particular care.

If it is impossible to play a disc, you can try and repair it for new recordings using the
following function. The disc will only be prepared for deletion. It will be deleted only after the
next recording has taken place.
Clean the disc.

Open the disc tray with OPEN/CLOSE J . Insert the disc but do not close the

tray.
Hold down CLEAR on the remote control until the tray closes. The disc is

prepared for deletion.
Start recording as with an empty disc.

This message may appear if you insert a disc that was not finalised. DVD+R's that have not
been finalised are very sensitive to fingerprints, dust, or dirt. This may cause problems during
recording.
To use the disc again, follow the next steps
Make sure that the surface of the disc is clean.

Open the disc tray with OPEN/CLOSE J . Insert the defect DVD+R but

Hold down 5 on the remote control until the tray closes. The disc will be read

process. This may take up to four times as much time as the recording, in which the
error occurred.
If the disc is recovered, the index screen will appear.
