Installing the DSN-5000-10 Expansion Array
If the DSN-5000-10 expansion array will be installed on a desktop or shelf, locate the array
close to the DSN-5000 series primary array, with sufficient ventilation space between the
expansion array and any other objects in the vicinity. Do not block the air vents on the front
and back of the DSN-5000-10 expansion array enclosure. Install the cables and power cords
according to the procedures in the following sections.
If the DSN-5000-10 expansion array will be mounted in a rack, mount the DSN-5000-10
expansion array in the same rack, either above or below the primary array. For information
about installing the system in a rack, refer to Appendix B and the documentation for the
rack.
DSN-5000 series Hardware Reference Guide
Table 4-3. User-Supplied Items for Installing the DSN-5000 Expansion Array
Two available AC outlets not controlled by a wall switch (for best results, the second power
receptacle should be on a different circuit).
A standard NEMA-compliant 19-inch rack (cables supplied for connections between the DSN-5000
series primary array and DSN-5000-10 expansion arrays require all arrays to be located in close
proximity to each other).
Additional mounting hardware for specific rack being used, if necessary.
The rack cabinet must provide sufficient airflow to the front and back of the
DSN-5000-10 expansion array to maintain correct cooling. It must include
ventilation sufficient to exhaust the heat generated by equipment installed
in the rack.
