Chapter 1
Introduction
Version 2 operating system software for the K2600 works in any K2600 model. It provides two
important new features:
• Triple-modular processing
• Hard-disk partitioning
Triple-modular processing takes VAST to the third power, you can create a super-layer (called a
triple) that combines the sound-generation and DSP capabilities of three layers into one.
Hard-disk partitioning enables you to use up to 8 gigabytes of partitioned hard-disk space to
organize your samples, programs, setups, and songs. You can use a partitioned hard disk
exclusively with your K2600, or you can share it between the K2600 and a personal computer.

What's In This Supplement

This supplement to the K2600 Musician's Guide provides information about the features
available with Version 2 software for the K2600. There are two chapters:
• Chapter 2, Triple Modular Processing , describes how to create and program triple layers for
astounding new possibilities in digital synthesis
• Chapter 3, Disk Partitioning , explains how to format, partition, and use your hard disk for
convenient storage of all K2600-related files
