Downloading and Unpacking Oracle
10g Installation Files
Download Oracle 10g (32 bit and 64 bit) for Linux from the following web site:
software/products/database/oracle10g/index.html
Note
To install an Oracle Database 10g (without RAC) you need to download the database file
ship.db.lnx32.cpio.gz, 10201_database_linux_x86_64.cpio or similar file.
Compute a cyclic redundancy check (CRC) checksum for the downloaded files and compare the
checksum numbers against the numbers posted on the OTN website (where you downloaded the file
from):
cksum ship.db.lnx32.cpio.gz
Uncompress the downloaded files:
gunzip ship.db.lnx32.cpio.gz
Unpack ship.db.lnx32.cpio:
$ cpio -idmv < ship.db.lnx32.cpio
Disk1/stage/Components/oracle.server/10.1.0.3.0/1
Disk1/stage/Components/oracle.server/10.1.0.3.0
Disk1/stage/Components/oracle.server
