2.15 – Installing the Memory
Before attempting to install any type of memory, make sure that the memory you have is
compatible with the motherboard as well as the processor. For example, PC1600 DDR is
designed for a maximum of 100MHz (200DDR) Front Side bus. PC2100 modules are required for
133MHz (266DDR) FSB. Critically important is whether you're using the recommended memory
for the current board you have. For this information, please check TYAN's website at:

The following diagram shows the types of RAM modules you may encounter depending on your
board:
Here are a few key points to note before installing memory into your Thunder K7X:
At least ONE Registered DDR SDRAM module must be installed for the system to
turn on and POST (power on self test)
128MB, 256MB, 512MB and 1GB Registered PC2100/PC1600 DDR SDRAM memory
modules are supported
All installed memory will be automatically detected so there is no need to set any
jumpers or settings.
The Thunder K7X supports up to 4GB
