6.2. Managing DX Storage Administrators and Users

DX Storage by default defines the following realms of users:
• CAStor administrators who have write access to the Admin Console; in other words, these
users can commit changes to the cluster configuration as discussed in
Cluster. You can also specify administrative SNMP users who have read-write access to the
community password.
• CAStor operators who can view the Admin Console but who cannot change cluster
configuration settings. SNMP users have read-only access to the community password.
Each realm is specified by a Python dictionary in the format:
{administrators | operators} = {'username':'password',
'username':'password'}
To enhance security, passwords can be encrypted as discussed in
Administrator and Operator

6.2.1. Defining CAStor administrators and SNMP Administrators

This section discusses how to set up the administrators parameter to specify users with
administrative access to the Admin Console and SNMP.
Users in the CAStor administrators realm have write access to the Admin Console. Users in
the snmp administrators realm have read-write SNMP passwords (that is, community strings).

Specifies the volume storage devices that
DX Storage can use. This field is required for
the operation of a node.
The recommended setting, vols = all,
causes DX Storage to use all volumes
except the USB flash drive.
You can also set vols to a space-separated
list of drive identifiers. DX Storage uses
standard Linux volume identifiers like /dev/
sda, /dev/sdb, and so on.
Set to 1 to disable volume recovery and
recovery behavior. Set to 0 (default) to
allow normal volume recovery and recovery
behavior. This parameter should be set to
the same value for all nodes in a cluster.
