Fast Answer
Fast Answer saves time by forcing the I -modem to answer
calls as fast as possible without going through the Ring
Indicate toggling sequence.
By default, Fast Answer is disabled on your modem.
Turning off the echo canceller (2100hz tone)
You can now configure the I -modem so it does not send a
2100hz tone at the beginning of a call.
When Data Over Voice (DOV) is enabled, the I -modem
sends a 2100hz tone at the beginning of a 3.1khz 56 kbps
voice call to turn off the telephone company's echo
canceller.
If there are no echo cancellers on the B-channel during the
call, disable the 2100hz tone in DOV to save 2 seconds of
connect time.
When you disable the tone, you also risk not being able to
connect to the phone number.
By default, this feature is enabled; the I -modem sends a
2100hz tone at the beginning of a DOV call.
Microsoft Encrypted Password
If the I -modem is connecting to a server that supports
Microsoft Encrypted Password Authentication, the
I -modem will respond to the server using the same
protocol. However, the I -modem will communicate with
your computer using Password Authentication Protocol
(PAP).
Since your computer must communicate using PAP, the
software on your computer should not be configured to
ONLY accept Microsoft Encrypted Password.
Your modem will translate PAP into Microsoft Encryption
Password Authentication to communicate with the server.
The password will be clear-text over the serial cable
between your computer and the modem. Once the
password is on the ISDN telephone network, the password
will be encrypted.
