    SF544,551 OPERATION OF THE FRONT MOWER 3.1. When the front mower is running, stay away from the discharge opening, the cutting unit(s), and all moving parts. 3.2. During operation, never allow anyone, especially children, and animals to be in the vicinity of the front mower.

Tall grass can hide obstacles. 3.15. Never rest a foot on the brake pedal. If so, the brakes disc wear rapidly, which may lead to serious accidents.

  • Page 17 SF544,551 10.8. Never remove the radiator cap while the engine is hot or running. Wait until the engine cools down and then relieve the radiator pressure by releasing the radiator cap. Carelessly pouring cooling water into the heated radiator can cause serious damage to the radiator and the engine.
  • Page 18 10.28. Never attempt unauthorized modification of the front mower as this could be very hazardous. Damaged or worn parts should be replaced with ISEKI genuine spare parts. Unauthorized parts may cause breakdown of the front mower, accidents, and ISEKI warranty to expire.
  • Page 19 SF544,551 10.32. There are high voltage circuits in electric parts which controls engine, and related connectors and harnesses. Therefore, do not disassemble them. 10.33. Avoid cleaning ECU, connectors, harnesses and other electric parts with high pressure water.

    CHAPTER 1. FOR SAFE OPERATION MAINTENANCE OF THE ELECTRIC SYSTEM 11.1. TO MAINTAIN ELECTRIC WIRING When servicing the electric wiring, stop the engine without fail. Otherwise your hands or clothes may be caught in or sandwiched between rotating parts. Before manipulating electric parts, be sure to disconnect the earth battery cable (-), or you may get an electric shock or be injured by sparks.

    SF544,551 1.1. STARTER SWITCH OFF position: Engine stops and all electric circuits are turned off. ON position: Key turns to this position after starting the engine and remains at this position during operation. START position: Starter motor is switched on.

  • Page 41 SF544,551 Engine coolant warning lamp: The lamp illuminates while the engine coolant is over- heated. IMPORTANT: When the engine coolant is over-heated, the monitor lamp is illuminated, and PTO stops. At the same time the warn- ing horn sounds for 2 seconds.

During DPF regeneration, exhaust gas becomes hot and the lamp illuminates. IMPORTANT: When the lamp is illuminated which means that exhaust gas is hot, you can continue operating but do not operate near long grasses and burnable stuff.

    CHAPTER 5. CONTROLS AND METERS 1.14. DPF REGENERATION DPF (Diesel particulate filter) is equipped for collecting PM (paticulate matter) contained in exhaust gas. When the engine electronic control unit (ECU) detects a specified amount of PM, "DPF regeneration" is required. NOTE: DPF regeneration has two types which are "Automatic regeneration"...

    SF544,551 1.14.1. DPF REGENERATION SWITCH DPF regeneration switch is for conducting "DPF manual regeneration".     SF544,551 2.4. DIF-LOCK PEDAL To minimize the turning radius of the front mower, the differential gear system is installed, which causes the right and left driving wheels to turn at different speed when turning. On the other hand, it causes the wheels to slip on wet grass or soft ground.

    CHAPTER 5. CONTROLS AND METERS 2.6. PARKING BRAKE LEVER Use parking brake lever when parking the front mower. Pull up the lever, and parking brake is applied. In order to maximize the performance of the parking brake, depress the brake pedal, and then apply the parking brake.

    SF544,551 CHAPTER 6. PRE-OPERATIONAL INSPECTION It is essential for avoiding accidents or breakdown during operation to keep the front mower in good condition. The following pre-operational checks should be performed without fail before starting daily operation. WARNING: ・ Before inspection, be sure to park the front mower on a level and hard ground.

    CHAPTER 7. OPERATION CRUISE CONTROL To set cruise control, depress the HST forward travel pedal (1) until the desired speed is reached, and then depress the cruise control pedal (2).     CHAPTER 8. MAINTENANCE CHAPTER 8. MAINTENANCE When you inspect the engine room, lift up the collector fully, and lock the lift cylinder by the lift cylinder lock plate (1). When you encounter any abnormality or trouble which is not mentioned in this manual, please ask your dealer for service.

    CHAPTER 8. MAINTENANCE AIR CLEANER The air cleaner (1) is located to the center left-hand side of the front mower. Remove the air cleaner cover by hand. Pinch the vacuum valve (2) to eject the dust accumulated inside. When the dust is wet, wipe it off with dry cloth.

    SF544,551 FUEL FILTER The fuel filter (1) is located at the left side of the front mower. Check the filter element for accumulated dust or water in the bottom of the strainer cup. Fuel filter sedimenter lamp on the meter panel illuminates when dust or water is accumulated in the filter element (2).

    CHAPTER 8. MAINTENANCE CRANKCASE BREATHER Crankcase breather (1) is located at the top of the engine. Loosen the case (2), and take out the element. Install new filter element. IMPORTANT: Do not reuse the element. Use only genuine filter element. Replace the O-ring of the case at the same time.

    SF544,551 BRAKE PEDAL PLAY Depress the brake pedal (1) and apply the parking brake (2). Adjust the length of brake rod (3). Release the parking brake lever and make sure that there is play on the brake arm. DANGER: ・As the front mower is used, the brake pedal play becomes larger.

    CHAPTER 8. MAINTENANCE NEUTRAL POSITION OF HST WARNING: After a long time of use, the neutral position of the HST unit can shift, which will cause various troubles such as difficulty in stopping the machine, changing over between forward travel and reverse travel, etc., which is very dangerous.

    CHAPTER 8. MAINTENANCE ■ HANDLING OF THE BATTERY WARNING: ・Be sure to connect the battery terminals correctly. ・The wiring from the battery should be kept clean and connectors tight. Dirty or loose wiring may cause a fire. ・ W h e n d i s c o n n e c t i n g t h e b a t t e r y, disconnect the negative terminal first and vice versa when connecting.

    SF544,551 TIRE PRESSURE (INFLATION) Improper tire pressure causes abnormal wear of the tires and affects the front mower performance. Too high pressure causes the front mower to bounce too much and too low pressure increases travelling resistance, which leads to power loss.

    Remove the oil filler cap (3) at the top of engine and pour in new engine oil through the oil filler. Be sure to use oil recommended by ISEKI. Refer to " 2. FIG. 80 ENGINE OIL LEVEL ".

    SF544,551 ENGINE OIL FILTER IMPORTANT: ・ The engine oil filter should be replaced after the initial 50 hours of operation and then after every 500 hours of operation. ・ It is recommended to ask your dealer to replace the engine oil filter, because this operation requires a special tool.

    CHAPTER 8. MAINTENANCE Place a tray under the drain plug (1). Remove the drain plug, (1), and let the oil drain out. Wrap the seal tape and reinstall the drain plug, (1), and tighten it securely. Pour new transmission oil through the oil filler on top of the transmission case until the level reaches the upper limit on the level gauge (oil level check window) in referring to "3.

    SF544,551 21. RADIATOR IMPORTANT: ・ The radiator screen and radiator clogged with dust or dirt causes overheating of the engine due to reduced cooling efficiency of the radiator. ・  T he radiator and radiator screen should be checked for clogging everyday before operation.

    When hydraulic system parts such as the HST unit, hydraulic pump, control valve, hydraulic cylinder, piping, etc. are required to be adjusted or repaired, consult your ISEKI dealers. Users are advised not to adjust or repair hydraulic system parts by themselves.
