Battery Maintainer
PLEASE READ before using Maintainer. The term battery will be used to reference a single battery or multiple
battery pack; wired in series or parallel. Contact Schauer Chargers with any questions prior to operation.
IMPORTANT! Reverse polarity connection will blow output fuse and may
permanently damage maintainer circuitry. Take care to correctly connect battery
clips to proper battery terminals – Red Positive clamp to first battery in series
Positive post and Black Negative clamp to last battery in series Negative post.
Incorrect connection not across complete battery pack will cause battery over
voltage on connected batteries and may cause damage, fire or explosion.
This unit is a battery maintainer (max. 2.5 amps), not a battery charger. This maintainer will keep a fully
charged battery at a proper maintenance charge voltage; it will not charge a large capacity (golf cart)
discharged battery.
Caution! Safety precautions must be observed to avoid injury, electrical shock and/or fire!
❖ For use with 120 Volts AC mains electrical service: USA, Canada. (not 240 VAC compatible)
❖ Always check for proper water level in battery prior to maintaining
❖
Be sure your battery is not drawing any load from equipment or instruments while you are maintaining.
❖ Before connecting or disconnecting maintainer to battery, turn power switch off and unplug from AC outlet
❖ Maintainer must be plugged into a grounded AC outlet
❖ Maintainer must be operated in an environment with proper ventilation
❖ Maintainer must not be operated in a damp or wet environment
❖ Do not use maintainer on 10 Ah or smaller battery
Caution! A battery charger should not be connected or operating while maintainer is in use.
Connection sequence:
1) Attach positive (Red) battery clip to Positive post of first battery in series
2) Attach Negative (Black) battery clip to Negative post of last battery in series
3) Plug maintainer into AC power
