    1.OVERVIEW  About the Duplication Inhibition Function If a document which has been printed by means of hardcopy security printing is used as an original for a copy, scan or fax operation when the Hardcopy Security Kit installed, the equipment detects that the original is a duplicate- prohibited one, and will not perform the operation.

    2.HARDCOPY SECURITY PRINTING SOFTWARE  Printer driver settings Right-click [Start], then click [Control Panel] > [View devices and printers]. The Printers folder appears. Select the printer driver of the equipment from which hardcopy security printing is performed, then select [Printer properties] from the [File] menu. If the [File] menu is not displayed, press the [Alt] key.

    Hardcopy Security Printing This section describes how to print documents on Windows applications. The hardcopy security printing function (e.g., appearance of characters, restriction on copying, retrieval of tracking information) may not work properly depending on the state or the use environment of your equipment. The procedure to display the properties dialog for the printer driver may differ depending on the application you are using.
  • Page 19 2.HARDCOPY SECURITY PRINTING SOFTWARE Select the desired density level of the security pattern in [Density], then enter [Supplementary Tracking Information] as required and then click [OK]. Sets of information such as date and time printed, the serial number of an equipment from which the document is printed, the MAC address of and a login user name for a computer from which the document is printed, and a print job name* are embedded in a security pattern.

    3.INFORMATION TRACKING SOFTWARE  Retrieving information  Scanning from MFP You can scan the document with a security pattern using the equipment to which the Hardcopy Security Printing Software is installed and retrieve the information of the document. Such information can be retrieved only from the document that has been printed using the Hardcopy Security Printing Software.

    3.INFORMATION TRACKING SOFTWARE  Saving or printing tracking information You can save or print the retrieved information. Item Name Description Save As Select [Save as] from the [File] menu so that you can save the retrieved information in an XML format or a CSV format in the desired directory. Print Select [Print] from [File] menu so that you can print the retrieved information in a list.

    Setting Change of Duplication Inhibition Operation Using TopAccess, you can change the setting of the operation whose duplication you want to inhibit. Start TopAccess access policy mode. For details on the Access Policy Mode, refer to the TopAccess Guide. Click the [Administration] tab. Click the [Setup] menu and [General] submenu.

The setting value may not be reflected on the screen even after changing the setting by clicking [Save] if you are using Internet Explorer; however, the new setting is properly applied. In such a case, click the submenu to refresh the screen and display the current setting status.
