Know Your Carrier

Overview

Using the Side-entry Buckle

To fasten the side-entry buckle:
Holding the buckle handle parallel to your body, as shown, place it in the holder and slide it downward. As you slide the handle, it will rotate away from your body. Keep sliding it downward until it locks into position with an audible click.

Check that the handle is locked properly in position by feeling for the handle tip at the bottom of the holder, as shown. If you can't feel the tip, push the handle downward until you do.

To unfasten the side-entry buckle:
Sit down before removing baby from carrier.
Release both head support buckles and fold down top of head support.
With your left arm supporting baby, grasp the side-entry buckle handle with your left hand, as shown.

With your right hand, press the handle release tab and continue to hold down. With your left hand, lift the buckle handle upward until it clicks.
Twist the buckle handle away from baby in an upward motion until you hear a click.
Note: Twist until the handle tongue completely clears the groove
in the holder.
Slide buckle handle upward out of holder.

Wearing Your Carrier

Put the carrier on before placing your baby in the carrier.
With the carrier in front of you, slip the carrier over your head. Buckle the shoulder strap . Repeat on the other side.

The carrier should be comfortable and snug.
Pull on adjustment straps to remove slack.

Placing Baby in the Carrier

Facing Inward

Tip! The "hold me close" position, or facing inward, is best for young infants with limited neck control.

Sit down.
With unbuckled carrier on your lap, place baby onto carrier facing you with legs straddling carrier.
BE PREPARED FOR BABY'S SUDDEN MOVEMENT!
While supporting baby's head and back, carefully raise carrier and baby up toward your chest.

Fasten the side-entry buckle . Make sure it fastens with an audible click.

While supporting baby, fasten the head support buckle to the shoulder strap. Make sure it fastens with an audible click.
Adjust headrest as necessary to support baby's head. Repeat on the other side.

Facing Outward


Baby MUST be able to hold up head and neck unassisted (about 4 – 5 months old).

Sit down.
With unsnapped/unbuckled carrier on your lap, place baby onto carrier facing away from you with legs straddling carrier.
BE PREPARED FOR BABY'S SUDDEN MOVEMENT!
Support baby's chest while bringing the carrier up toward baby's chest.

Fasten the side-entry buckle. Make sure it fastens with an audible click.

Fold head support down then fasten the head support buckle to the shoulder strap. Make sure it fastens with an audible click.
Repeat on the other side.

Make sure baby is comfortable with legs fully through the leg openings , and baby's arms rest just above the side-entry buckle .
BE SURE THAT ALL BUCKLES AND SNAPS ARE FASTENED SECURELY.

Care and Maintenance

  • Buckle all straps before laundering.
  • Hand or machine wash separately in cold water, gentle cycle.
  • Do not bleach or iron. Line dry.


FALL HAZARD
Failure to follow each of the following warnings and the assembly, use and care instructions can result in serious injury or death.

  • ONLY use carrier with infants between 7 and 25 lbs (3.2 and 11.3 kg).
  • Child MUST face towards you until he or she can hold head upright (about 4 to 5 months old).
  • NEVER leave the child in carrier unless being worn by caregiver. Child may fall, suffocate, or strangle.
  • DO NOT bend over at waist; bend at knees.
  • This carrier is to be used by adults while standing or walking ONLY.
  • DO NOT use in exercise activities or motorized vehicles.
  • DISCONTINUE USE if damaged, broken or parts are missing.
  • Small children can fall through a leg opening. Check OFTEN to be sure child is secure and comfortable with face uncovered and breathing freely.
  • DO NOT go near hot objects or strike other objects.
  • Check to assure all buckles, snaps, straps, and adjustments are secure before each use.
  • ENSURE that child's legs straddle the seat panel with one leg in each leg hole and one arm through each arm hole.
  • DO NOT use carrier on hip or back.
  • DO NOT put items into the carrier with child. This may interfere with child's ability to breathe.
  • ENSURE that child's body parts are clear when closing buckles or snaps to prevent pinching.
  • DO NOT place sharp objects into carrier pockets.
  • Let carrier cool after leaving in sun or hot car.
  • DO NOT place child in carrier on countertops, tables, or other elevated surfaces.
  • Keep instructions for future use.
