Menu Operation Initial Settings In this menu system, there are several ways to customize the settings pro- vided. Most menus consist of three levels to set up the options, but some require greater depth for the variety of settings. If you press the MENU but- ton, only the first level of the menu system will appear on the TV screen.
SETUP Settings EZ Scan (Channel Search) Automatically finds all channels (digital) available through the antenna inputs, and stores all the active channels in the channel list. Inactive or weak channels may not appear in the list. In that case, add missing channels manually in the Ch. Edit menu.
SETUP Settings (Continued) DTV Signal Shows the antenna signal strength bar for antenna to help you adjust the antenna to the correct position from your location. Press MENU to display the on-screen menu. Select the SETUP menu using 3 3 / 4 4 then press (SELECT) or 2 2 .
AUDIO Settings Audio Language The audio language choices are English, French, or Spanish in the language menu. If the selected language is not available on the program in current channel, the first available audio language for the program is output. If user changes the channel and if the audio language, selected by user, does not exist at the new channel, also the first available audio language on the pro- gram in the new channel is output.
CAPTION Settings Lets you select a mode for displaying Closed Caption Data. The caption language can be selected among English, French, Spanish at the menu. If the selected language is not available on the program in current channel, the first available caption language for the program is displayed. If user changes the channel and if the caption language, selected by user, does not exist at the new channel, also the first available caption language on the program in the new channel is displayed.
CAPTION Settings (Continued) FG (Foreground) Opacity Lets you select a foreground opacity for Closed Caption display. Set By Program: The original foreground opacity is set for the caption display. Solid: The text foreground color looks solid (without any transparency). Flash: The text foreground color blinks twice a second. Translucent: The text foreground color looks translucent.
SPECIAL Settings Clock The Clock Menu sets the clock in the HDTV Receiver to the current time. Press MENU. The main menu appears. Use 3 3 /4 4 to select the SPECIAL option then press 2 2 or (SELECT) to move to the second level. Use 3 3 /4 4 to select the Clock option then press 2 2 or (SELECT) to move to the third level.
SPECIAL Settings (Continued) Aspect Ratio Lets you choose the screen format. When you view a picture with a wide (16:9) aspect ratio at 480i or 480p mode of output format, you can choose either Letter box, Cropped, or Squeezed. When you view a picture with a normal (4:3) aspect ratio at 720p or 1080i mode of output format, you can choose either Normal, Wide, or Zoom.
LOCK Settings Lock System Lets you set up specific channels and ratings through blocking schemes. Activates or disables all of the lock schemes previously set up. A password is required to gain access to this menu. You can change the password by inputting a new password twice.
LOCK Settings (Continued) Set Password Lets you change the password. Follow Steps 1-2 as shown for the Lock System on page 23. Use 3 3 /4 4 to select the Set Password option. Press 2 2 or (SELECT) to move to the third level. Enter the new 4-digit code.
LOCK Settings Block Ch. (Channel) Blocks any channels that you do not want to view or that you do not want your kids to watch. If you tune in a blocked channel, a black screen with a pop-up screen will appear. Follow Steps 1-2 as shown for the Lock System on page 23.
LOCK Settings (Continued) TV Rating-Children Keeps children from watching certain children’s TV programs according to the ratings limit. This rating applies only to TV programs for children. Unless you block TV programs intended for mature audiences in the TV Rating – General menu, your children may view those programs.

Programming the Remote Control to Operate Other Devices The HDTV Receiver remote control is a multi-brand or universal remote con- trol that can be programmed to control most remote-controllable devices from other manufacturers. The remote control may not be able to control all models of other brands. Test your remote control.
