Warnings and precautions
• Your Braun Digital thermometer is a 3-in-1 predictive thermometer suitable for axillary
(underarm), oral or rectal use.
• This thermometer is intended for household use only. This product is not intended
to diagnose any disease, but is a useful screening tool for temperature. Use of this
thermometer is not intended as a substitute for consultation with your physician.
• Consult a physician immediately if temperature is elevated and fever is suspected.
High, prolonged fever requires medical attention, especially for young children.
• Parents/guardians should call the physician upon noticing any untoward sign(s)
or symptom(s). For example, a child who exhibits irritability, vomiting, diarrhea,
dehydration, changes in appetite or activity, even in the absence of fever, or who
exhibits a low temperature, may still need to receive medical attention. Children
who are on antibiotics, analgesics, or antipyretics should not be assessed solely on
temperature readings to determine the severity of their illness.
• Keep out of reach of children. DO NOT leave children unattended when obtaining
temperature measurement.
• NEVER use the thermometer for purposes other than those for which it has been
intended. Please follow the general safety precautions when using on children.
• DO NOT use the thermometer if there are signs of damage on the probe or on the
thermometer itself. If damaged, DO NOT attempt to repair the product.
• This thermometer is not intended for pre-term babies or small-for-gestational age newborn
babies (birth to 4 weeks of age). Pre-term is defined as babies born before 37 weeks of
gestation. Small-for-gestational-age is defined as a newborn baby, born at 37 weeks or later,
with a weight below the 10th percentile for newborn babies of the same gestational age.
• This thermometer is not intended to interpret hypothermic temperatures. If the device
displays a temperature of 97.5°F (36.4°C) or less with an LED backlight color of green
or white, and the individual is exhibiting atypical symptoms or behaviors, contact your
physician or health care professional.
• Temperature elevation may signal a serious illness, especially in neonates and infants,
or adults who are old, frail, have a weakened immune system. Please seek professional
advice immediately when there is a temperature elevation in:
- Neonates and infants under 3 months (Consult your physician immediately if the
temperature exceeds 99.4 °F or 37.4 °C).
- Individuals having diabetes mellitus or a weakened immune system (e.g., HIV positive,
cancer chemotherapy, chronic immunosuppressant treatment, splenectomy).
- Individuals who are bedridden (e.g. paraplegia, quadriplegia, stroke, recovering
from surgery, nursing home patient, chronic illness).
- A transplant recipient (e.g., liver, heart, lung, kidney).
• DO NOT allow children to walk or run while using the thermometer.
• This thermometer contains small parts that can be swallowed or produce a choking
hazard to children.
• ALWAYS keep the thermometer out of reach of children.
• NO MODIFICATION OF THIS EQUIPMENT IS ALLOWED.
• Manufacturing date is given by the LOT number located at the back of the thermometer.
The first three (3) digits represent the day that the product was manufactured, and the
next two (2) digits represent the year the product was manufactured. The last identifiers
are the letters that represent the manufacturer.
An example: LOT: 00124OMB implies this product has been manufactured on the
January 1 2024.
Contains coin battery:
• INGESTION HAZARD: This product contains a button cell or coin battery.
• DEATH or serious injury can occur if ingested.
• A swallowed button cell or coin battery can cause Internal Chemical Burns in as little as 2 hours.
• KEEP new and used batteries OUT OF REACH of CHILDREN.
• Seek immediate medical attention if a battery is suspected to be swallowed or
inserted inside any part of the body.
What you should consider when using a digital thermometer?
Temperature readings vary from person to person. Although there is no one "normal"
temperature reading, a temperature, taken orally, ranging between 96.4°F and 99.4°F, is
considered normal. A rectal temperature is generally 1°F higher and an underarm (axillary)
temperature is generally 1°F lower than a temperature measurement taken orally.
method to determine your own normal temperature is to use the thermometer when you
are feeling well. Record your reading twice a day (early morning and late afternoon). Take
the average of the two temperatures. This is considered your normal body temperature.
Any variation from it may indicate some sort of illness and you should consult your physician.
It is important to remember fever is just one of the many possible signs of illness. If your
child exhibits fever or other signs of a serious illness, contact your physician.
How to use your Braun Digital thermometer
2 Simple Steps:
1. Switch on the thermometer by pressing the On/Off button
You will hear a short beep and display segment check will be performed. After the
segment check, last temperature reading will be displayed for 2 seconds.
2. Take the measurement by properly positioning the thermometer in the intended
measurement site. (see "Tips for measuring at different sites," for guidance on
proper measuring technique)
Once temperature rise is detected by the thermometer in measurement mode, it
will begin to measure. If the thermometer doesn't measure a temperature rise, three
dashed lines will be shown until the thermometer automatically turns off.
After taking a measurement (generally 8 seconds after temperature change is
detected), the confirmation beep indicates that a temperature measurement has
been obtained . The color coded result will be shown on the display along with 1 long
beep for normal temperature, 10 short beeps for fever and high fever. Interpret the
reading with the help of the color coded display.
Probe Covers
Disposable probe covers are provided with your thermometer. Place a cover on the probe
tip each time the thermometer is used to help prevent spread of germs. Additional probe
covers can be purchased at most drug stores or pharmacy departments.
Understanding the color-coded fever guidance
Color-coded fever guidance helps you to better understand the meaning of your child's
temperature with the color indicated on the display.
- Green backlight indicates normal temperature
- Yellow backlight indicates fever
- Red backlight indicates high fever
The color-coded display for interpreting fever has been designed for use in the oral
mode only according to the table below.

>101.3°F or >38.5°C
≤99.4°F or ≤37.4°C
≤101.3°F or ≤38.5°C
If you use the thermometer in the underarm or rectal mode by placing it at those sites,
please do not use the display lights programmed into the thermometer for determining
fever. Instead, refer to the underarm or rectal tables respectively as shown below to
determine if you have a fever.
Note: Due to human physiology, temperature measurements taken from different
sites on the same person may show variability. For example, rectal readings tend to run
higher than oral as well as underarm readings taken from the same person.

Tips for measuring at different sites
Under-the-arm (axillary) use
This method is used for babies and young children.
1. Wipe the underarm with a dry towel.
2. Place the probe tip under the arm so the tip is touching the skin and position the the
individual's arm next to the the individual's body (Fig. 1).
With a young child, it is sometimes helpful to hug the child to keep their arm next to
their body. This ensures that the room air does not affect the reading.
3. When the peak temperature is reached, audible beep signals will sound. The temperature
is now confirmed. When the thermometer is removed from the measuring site, the
associated color-coded fever guidance color will display.
4. Turn off the thermometer and clean as recommended.
Fig. 1
Oral use
This method is suitable for adults and children who are old enough to safely keep the
thermometer inside the mouth. It is suggested to use a probe cover for Oral Use to
prevent the spread of germs.
1. It is important to place the tip of the thermometer well under the tongue on either side
to get a good, accurate reading. Place the sensor tip in areas marked with a "√" under the
tongue (Fig. 2). To ensure an accurate measurement, the child should remain still with
the thermometer in position and their mouth closed until the measurement is obtained.
2. When the peak temperature is reached, audible beep signals will sound. The temperature
is now confirmed. When the thermometer is removed from the measuring site, the
associated color-coded fever guidance color will display.
3. Turn off the thermometer, dispose of used probe cover, and clean as recommended below.
Rectal use
Commonly used for babies, young children, or when it is difficult to take an oral or
underarm temperature.
1. Cover the thermometer's tip with a probe cover and lubricate with a sterile water-
soluble lubricant for easier insertion.
DO NOT use a petroleum jelly as a lubricant. Read the label of the lubricant to be sure
it is safe for the intended application.
2. Lay the individual on his/her side. For infants, position on their stomach with legs
hanging down, either across your knees or at the edge of the bed or changing table.
This positions the infant's rectum for safe and easy insertion of the thermometer.
3. Gently insert the tip of the thermometer NO MORE THAN 1/2 inch or 1.3 cm into the
rectum. If you detect resistance, stop. Hold the thermometer in place during measurement.
4. When the peak temperature is reached, the thermometer will beep. The temperature
is now confirmed. When the thermometer is removed from the measuring site, the
associated color-coded fever guidance color will display.
5. Turn off the thermometer, dispose of used probe cover, and clean as recommended below.
Memory
When the thermometer is turned on, the display will show a test, after which the last
measured temperature will be shown for approximately 2 seconds. Letter "M" will be
displayed next to the temperature reading.
Changing the temperature scale
To change the thermometer's units of measure to degrees Celsius (°C) or Fahrenheit (°F),
with the power off, press and hold the On/Off button for approximately 5 seconds and the
current units are displayed on the LCD. Release and press again to change the units. After
approximately 4 seconds the LCD will update and the thermometer will be ready for use.
Care and cleaning
• Clean the probe tip after every use, by washing with soap and warm water.
• Disinfect with rubbing alcohol (70% isopropyl alcohol).
• Wipe the thermometer dry with a clean soft cloth.
• DO NOT BOIL OR ATTEMPT CLEAN IN DISHWASHER. This will damage the thermometer
and it will stop working. This will also void the warranty.
• DO NOT wash the unit with any thinner or chemical solvent.
• Store the thermometer in a dry location, free from dust and contaminants and away
from direct sunlight.
Replacing the batteries
When the battery symbol on the LCD display flashes continuously
battery (3V CR1632).
1. Insert coin into slot. Rotate door until slot is lined with
UNLOCK symbol.
2. Replace battery.

3. Rotate battery door to LOCKED position.
Errors and troubleshooting
When measured temperature is higher than 109.2 °F, LCD will display
"Err °F". Red backlight stays on for 5 seconds.
Other system errors occur such as short or broken circuit, LCD
will display "Err" to indicate system error. Red backlight stays on
for 5 seconds.
