    Automatic softening point tester LSPT-A10 1. Introduction Automatic softening point tester LSPT-A10 is a bench top microprocessor controlled analytical unit that determines the softening point of two samples at once. Operated via touch panel it uses ball and ring apparatus for reliable detection.

    Automatic softening point tester LSPT-A10 5. Instrument structure The instrument is composed of two parts: the control unit and the test unit. The instrument structure is below (see Fig.1). Fig.1 Control unit • Thermal printer: Print the testing value of the current softening point.

RS322 Communication port: transfer the test data to computers. 4. Power wire: 220VAC/50Hz power supply. 5. Recoverable overload protector.

Preparation before test • Carefully read the instruction manual before using the instrument. • Prepare necessary test instruments and materials for the test according to the requirements specified in the standard. • Check the working state of the instrument to make it comply with the working environment and working conditions specified in the manual.
  • Page 7 Automatic softening point tester LSPT-A10 6. After the sample is cooled, scrape off the excess asphalt on the upper surface with a slightly heated knife or scraper to make each disc full and flush with the top of the copper ring (as shown in Fig. 3).
  • Page 8 Automatic softening point tester LSPT-A10 sensor and heating device have been firmly connected with the corresponding interface of the instrument (if necessary, transfer the test process data to the upper computer program, and connect the instrument and computer with serial port line).
  • Page 9 Automatic softening point tester LSPT-A10 Note: It is Forbidden to place the sample ring, test support, steel ball, or steel ball positioning ring directly into the water bath. Kindly prepare another beaker containing glycerin. Place the beaker in the above (32±1) ℃ water bath. After the temperature in the beaker meets the test requirements, place the sample ring, test support, steel ball, and steel ball positioning ring in the beaker.

    Copy the content in the software CD to your computer. Run the 'setup. Exe file to install it in the specified path. 3. Procedure Run the Automatic softening point tester LSPT-A10 file to enter the program, and the startup interface will be displayed as shown in Fig. 6.

Fig.7 • Click on "COMM Settings" to enter the "COMM Settings" interface, as shown in Fig.8 After setting up, click "Enter" to save the settings. Click on "Default" to restore the factory settings (serial port number: com1, baud rate: 9600).

    Automatic softening point tester LSPT-A10 7. Maintenance 1. It is forbidden to turn on the instrument without water or glycerin in the beaker. Otherwise, it will burn down the heat device. 2. Pour the corresponding liquid into the glass cylinder of constant temperature water bath until the liquid depth reaches to marking line as required.

    Automatic softening point tester LSPT-A10 8. Troubleshooting Warning: If there is any trouble appears, kindly cut off the power supply immediately. Then ask a professional to check and repair it. You can use it again only after the problem is solved to avoid any accidents.
