- Page 3 Setting up on Site Prior to Starting Work The Lightweight Davit Clamp enables the Davit Arm to be positioned above the Trench Sheet or Box allowing its use as a fall arrest system or as a rescue system for personnel working within the excavation.
- Page 4 In an Emergency - Rescue • During the rescue operation, there must always be direct or indirect visual or communicative contact with the person being rescued. • In order to lift the casualty to safety the Trench Guard panel(s) will have to be removed. It is the responsibilty of the Davit Arm operator to ensure an alternative method of protection against falls from height is available during this operation.
- Page 5 Use as a Fall Arrest When using the Davit Clamp, Davit Arm and Generation Ladder Access Platform as a fall arrest system, there needs to be visual inspection and a functional test before every use. To do so, once set up pull the rope. The ratchets must lock audibly and the device must lock. Firmly hold the rope and allow it to retract into the fall arrest block in a controlled manner.
