OPERATOR TIPS - RTH
- The Use and Maintenance Manual (Operators Manual) MUST be left in the cab of the machine. This is considered the Safety Manual and most jurisdictions require its presence with the machine. Most operational questions can be answered by reading the Manual.
- Machine startup: key on to the FIRST position, let it load for approx. 10 seconds (or when the beep stops). Then turn and hold the key in the SECOND position. It may take a few seconds before the machine starts cranking. There is no need to step on the fuel pedal when starting.
- It is highly recommended that for an initial startup of the machine you allow it to warm up a minimum of 5 minutes. In cold weather environments, this should be extended to a minimum of 15 minutes for warm up.
- If the machine will not start check the following:
- Battery switch located in the engine compartment next to the terminals is in the vertical ON position
- The engine bonnet is completely closed and secured
- The emergency stop button located on the right console must be in the up position
- The transmission selector (right joystick) must be in the neutral (center) position
- If the Magni is not equipped with automatic parking brakes, it is important that you disengage the parking brake before putting the machine in gear. In the event you do put the machine in gear before disengaging the parking brake you must:
- Return the machine to the neutral gear position and disengage the parking brake by doing the following:
- Engage foot brake and hold
- Press the parking brake button down
- If you will not be using the machine for 24 hours or more (i.e. weekends), turn the battery off by flipping the battery disconnect switch located within the engine compartment. IMPORTANT: After you turn the engine off but BEFORE you turn off the battery allow for the DEF purge (30 seconds).
- RTH machines are equipped with 3 modes of steering – front wheel, all wheel, and crab. To change from one mode to another, simply press the desired steering mode button. In addition, when the wheels are straight, the indicators on the screen (one for each axle) will be green
. - To initiate joystick functions, the dead man (consent) switch must be engaged by holding them in.
- It is important that you rely on the touch screen monitor. It will provide you with virtually all the information you need to manage the machine.
- The load chart page (LMI) on your screen provides an "active" view and changes in real time as the load moves – this IS your load chart - it is extremely IMPORTANT that the operator respect it.
- If you overload the boom the machine will stop all movements and lock you out.
- To resolve: retract boom to a position within the load chart parameters and/or lower winch/fork down.
- It is important to watch the level bubble to ensure the machine is not out of balance. This is most common when you are attempting to move the vehicle on uneven terrain.
- Use the chassis tilt when you are on wheels or level manually with the stabilizers to get the machine into a position where the bubble is green on Magni's' that are equipped.
- Some TH models are equipped with 2 stabilizers and by utilizing them you will achieve a higher load chart. You can engage the stabilizers at any time as long as the boom is fully retracted (the boom angle does not matter) BUT there cannot be any load on the attachment. Once you lower the stabilizers, the stabilizer indicators must show in blue
confirming that they are properly in place. In order to lift the stabilizers, the boom must be fully retracted and lowered to a position of less than 15 degrees (just over the mirrors is best). - To change the machine speed (turtle & rabbit) the machine must be in neutral, you must engage the foot brake, and then select the speed you desire.
- If you have an electronic issue with the screen (i.e. screen stays black) you will need to perform a "hard" reboot. Turn the key off and then power off (at the battery disconnect in the engine compartment but only after the DEF dosing cycle is has ended) for two (2) minutes. Reengage the power and turn the key one click and make sure to let the computer fully reset. Ensure the machine is in neutral. Acknowledge the tool (attachment) by selecting the
before turning on the engine. - If the red exclamation mark
on the lower right corner of the screen is blinking, press it with your finger and the screen will display fault codes. It is important that you take a photo of the screen showing the code(s) and send it to your dealer / service center so they can diagnose. - The DEF fluid will only burn when the machine is driving or revving (high idle) so if you see that the machine is not using much DEF think about how it is being operated. You will find that the use of DEF will generally be less or none at all in colder temperatures.
- To check the hydraulic fluid level, the machine must be on flat ground with the boom down and fully retracted, stabilizers fully retracted (if equipped), and the boom tip cylinder fully closed. The correct level is in the center of the hydraulic tank gage glass at the red dot.
- Be careful not to overfill the hydraulic or fuel tanks. If will leak out of the breather if this is done.
- The machine is equipped with two (2) emergency keys. One to override the LMI system (this is not recommended and could be dangerous) and one for the work platform override. Both keys MUST be always present in the machine and placed in the red emergency box.
- The machine is equipped with an RFID reader (which looks like a red button) on the boom head. This is used to automatically read the attachment (each attachment has an RFID tag). What to do if the machine is not reading the attachment properly? Resolution: remove the attachment rod and tilt the boom head back. Check to ensure that the red tip of the reader is not damaged or cracked. Check the tag on the attachment to ensure it is present and not damaged. Ensure there is no obstruction between the reader and the tag so they can communicate properly. Check the wire connection (small wire) at the junction box (right side of boom head) to ensure it is seated properly and not broken or wet by unscrewing it. When returning the wire, make sure that the notch is lined up properly before attempting to screw it in.
