This document describes the installation, operation and maintenance instructions for CMO Valves MX series unidirectional and bidirectional channel gates. MX Series gates are designed to work with a wide range of clean or solid-laden liquids, controlling their fl ow, isolation, and passage in pipelines for the defi ned range of pressures (water load) and service conditions, as is their designated use.

    • To prevent damage, especially to the anticorrosive protection, it is recommended to use soft straps or belts when lifting CMO valves knife gate valves. These straps must be fi tted around the top of body. • If the equipment is packed in wooden boxes, these must be provided with clearly marked holding areas where the slings will be placed when securing them.

Completely isolate the gate from the whole process. • Drain all the fl uid from the line through the gate. For MX Series gates for use in potentially explosive atmospheres (ATEX), ‘Ex’ approved hand tools must be • used during installation and maintenance, according to current regulations.
  • Page 5 ASPECTS TO BE CONSIDERED DURING ASSEMBLY The most common installation for MX Series wall gates is placing them against the civil construction wall and fas- tening the gate with expansion or chemical anchors (fi g. 2), although there are other mounting options, as shown in fi...

  • Page 9 WALL PENSTOCK - MX SERIES DRIVE MX Series gates can be operated by a wide variety of drives, according to project, installation, or usage requirements. Manual drives (handwheel, gearbox, lever, etc.) should not be subjected to excessive force (max. 25 kgF) to ensure the gate closes correctly.

WALL PENSTOCK - MX SERIES WALL PENSTOCK - MX SERIES IMPORTANT SAFETY ASPECTS To work under ideal safety conditions, the drives must be in idle position and disconnected from their power source (electric, pneumatic or hydraulic) with the air tanks depressurised. Drives with fail-safe position (spring return) must be in these safety positions or locked.
