This document describes the installation, operation and maintenance instructions for CMO Valves’ AB series knife gate valves. AB series knife gate valves are designed to handle various liquids with up to 4% suspended solids, con- trolling their fl ow, isolation and passage in pipelines within the specifi ed pressure and temperature range; if used for gravity discharge of dry solids, it is recommended to install the valve with the body arrow pointing opposite to fl...
• To prevent damage, especially to the anticorrosive protection, it is recommended to use soft straps or belts when lifting CMO valves knife gate valves. These straps must be fi tted around the top of body. • If the equipment is packed in wooden boxes, these must be provided with clearly marked holding areas where the slings will be placed when securing them.

KNIFE GATE VALVE - AB KNIFE GATE VALVE - AB SERIES SERIES The equipments must be fi rmly installed in the conduit on which it is mounted. When the union to the conduit is screwed it has to be placed a watertight seal between the conduit and guillotine to avoid possible leaks to the exterior.

Position number 1: Prefered and recommended orientation. Fig. 4 Position number 8: The valve can be installed in this position, although contacting CMO Valves is recommended in such cases. Positions 2, 3, 6 and 7: For large valves (over DN300), the maximum angle permitted with the installation vertical is 30°.

(electrical connections, pneumatic connections, instruments, etc.). All valves from CMO valves are tested and verifi ed at our facilities, although the packing gland nuts may come loose during handling and transport and need to be retightened.

PNEUMATIC ACTUATOR (double and single acting) CMO Valves pneumatic drives are designed to connect to a 6-bar pneumatic grid, although these units can withstand up to 10 bars. The pressurised air used for the pneumatic drive must be correctly fi ltered and lubricated. Correctly identify the equipment’s pneumatic connection ports/inlets, and use fi...
MAINTENANCE CMO Valves shall not be liable if the multi-way valve su ers damage due to incorrect or unauthorised handling or modifi cation, or improper assembly and commissioning, thus voiding the warranty. Manipulating or modifying the multi-way valve is forbidden unless expressly authorised by CMO Valves.

KNIFE GATE VALVE - AB KNIFE GATE VALVE - AB SERIES SERIES IMPORTANT SAFETY ASPECTS • To work under suitable safety conditions, the magnetic and electrical elements must be at rest and the air tanks depressurized. Likewise, also the electrical control cabinets must be out of service. The maintenance personnel must be aware of the safety regulations and only work can be started under the order of the on-site safety personnel.

Below we show the packing dimensions (Table 2). As standard, CMO Valves packing is composed of 3 lines (2 packing lines and 1 rubber joint line in the middle). Place the packing gland in its original position, making...

Contact CMO Valves. Below is an exploded diagram of the pneumatic actuator (fi g. 8) and a list of the cylinder’s components (table 1). The top cover and the support cover are usually made of aluminium, but from pneumatic cylinders greater than Ø200 mm, they are made of cast ductile iron.
KNIFE GATE VALVE - AB KNIFE GATE VALVE - AB SERIES SERIES MAINTENANCE OF OTHER DRIVES For maintenance of other types of drives mounted on the reduced bore valve, such as manual geared motors, electric actuators and hydraulic actuators, follow the manufacturer’s recommendations as indicated in their user manual and technical documentation.

Use only original spare parts. For any request or inquiry, contact CMO Valves, stating the material or component required and the order or project number. The following chapter and the website www.cmovalves.com include catalogues and technical information that can help identify the parts and elements of the reduced bore valve.
