(see warranty statement on page 118). Proper Use The MADIface XT II is a digital interface for professional audio applications for use with CE ap- proved class B computers. To comply with the European CE standard, the MADIface XT II must be used with CE approved Class B computers.
1. Introduction Thank you for choosing the MADIface XT II. This unique audio system is the premier solution to transfer analog and huge amonts of digital audio channels directly to a computer from practically any source. Numerous unique features, well thought-out configuration dialogs, an industry-lead-...
Watch the display for further information. The rear panel of the MADIface XT II has two balanced analog outputs, word clock I/O, MADI coaxial I/O, two MADI optical I/O, USB 3 port (compatible to USB 2), MIDI/AES I/O D-sub for breakout cable, the power socket and a power switch.
The Settings dialog in Windows and Mac OS X includes a more detailed analysis of the input signal state. The digital outputs of the MADIface XT II provide AES/EBU (SPDIF compatible) and MADI signals at the corresponding ports. They can be set up in different ways in the menu SETUP/REV, Op- tions, MADI Settings, or the driver’s Settings dialog.
Hardware/Diagnosis, Interface Mode. 5.3 Menu and Navigation The MADIface XT II has a simple and clear menu structure, for fast and efficient operation directly at the device. In most cases, however, all settings will be done via the Settings dialog and TotalMix FX of the host computer.
Start rmeinstaller.exe and follow the instructions of the installer. After installation connect com- puter and MADIface XT II using a USB 2 or USB 3.0 cable. Windows detects the new hardware as MADIface XT II and installs the drivers automatically.
DSP FX symbol in the Task Bar's system tray The hardware of the MADIface XT II offers a number of helpful, well thought-of practical functions and options which affect how the card operates. The Settings dialog includes options for: ...
8. Operation and Usage 8.1 Playback In the audio application being used, the MADIface XT II must be selected as output device. This can often be found in the Options, Preferences or Settings menus under Playback Device, Audio Devices, Audio etc.
8.3 Multi-client Operation RME audio interfaces support multi-client operation. Several programs can be used at the same time. The formats ASIO and WDM can even be used on the same playback channels simultane- ously.
13. Driver and Flash Update 13.1 Driver Installation After the MADIface XT II has been connected to the computer and switched on install the drivers matching your current macOS. RME is constantly improving the drivers. Please download the latest drivers from the RME website at http://rme.to/downloads.
Drivers for older operating systems that support the original MADIface XT also recognize the MADIface XT II. However, the XT II requires a newer TotalMix FX, version 1.95 or higher. This app can be downloaded individually from the RME website and replaced manually after the driver installation.
WCK Always Single Speed If this option is set to Off, the MADIface XT II follows the incoming word clock signal, from 32 kHz to 192 kHz. At the same time, the device outputs word clock in the range 32 kHz to 192 kHz, depending on the sample rate.
When used unbalanced the maximum output level is 6 dB lower. 20.5 Line - Headphones MADIface XT II offers a hi-quality analog monitor output on the front, via 6.3 mm (1/4") TRS jack. Two discrete hardware output levels are available (setting in TotalMix Output Channel Settings, Level, High or Low).
Additionally an internal memory allows for the permanent storage of six different states of the unit. Therefore the MADIface XT II is able to operate fully stand-alone, without any connected computer. In stand-alone operation it can transform into to- tally different devices by the simple click of a button.
Standalone ARC Volume. Deactivates all keys. Only the encoder wheel works, with a fixed as- signment to Main Volume. This option is also a safety function in case the ARC USB is connected to the MADIface XT II, but operated online (with computer). When the system goes offline (computer removed, sleep state…) the functions on the keys change, because online mode changed to stand-alone mode.
1 to 16, B3 0C nn for Echo preset 1 to 16 28.6 Stand-Alone MIDI Control When not connected to a computer, the MADIface XT II can be controlled directly via MIDI. The stand-alone MIDI control mode is activated in the unit’s menu Options - Hardware/Diagnosis, Standalone MIDI.
TotalMix Remote is a remote control for TotalMix FX v1.50 and up, to control the hardware mixer and effects in RME audio interfaces. TotalMix Remote mirrors the current state of the host system on the iPad and Windows/Mac computers - the entire mixing state, the complete routing, all FX settings, up to the level meters, and everything in real-time.
CC firmware is loaded. The natively available features will be limited in comparison to those provided by the RME driver for the MADIface XT II. For example there will be no hardware settings, no (Total) Mix and no settings for the effects.
CC notification in the USB field of the display. Audio playback will automatically be performed by the MADIface XT II, using MADI channels 1/2. If the CC routing Aux All 1/2 is acti- vated, also on the analog outputs 1/2 and the headphone output.
33.2 Class Compliant Mode under Windows and macOS The USB 2 Class Compliant mode of the MADIface XT II (22 channels playback) is compatible to Windows 11. The USB 3 Class Compliant mode of the MADIface XT II is currently not compatible to Windows.
(volume, EQ, dynamics, FX return). The MADIface XT II (and with it the iPad) will be synchronized to an external digital sample rate if there is a valid digital input signal. With a wrong sample rate heavy audio noise will occur.

2 ms. Low Latency! The MADIface XT II uses AD and DA converters with an innovative digital filter, causing a delay of only a few samples. With 5 samples AD and 6 samples DA the delay caused by the conversion is only about a quarter of previous generations.
40. Accessories RME offers several optional components. Additionally parts of the MADIface XT II, like the special breakout cable, are available separately. Part Number Description BOAESMIDI AES/MIDI breakout cable MADI0.5S MADI Optical Cable, Simplex, 0.5 m (1.6 ft) MADI1S MADI Optical Cable, Simplex, 1 m (3.3 ft) MADI3D MADI Optical Cable, Duplex, 3 m (9.9 ft)
In case a disposal of electronic waste is not possible, the recycling can also be done by IMM electronics GmbH, manufacturer of the MADIface XT II. For this the device has to be sent free to the door to: IMM electronics GmbH Leipziger Straße 32...
