Product Description
The Decora Evolve TM product line consists of basic switches and receptacles with a removable module which
allows homeowners to upgrade them without having to wire anything. The removable module on this Primary
Switch for example can be replaced with an occupancy sensor that turns the light on or off dependent on if it
senses motion. Note the screw terminal colors and wiring diagram before wiring.
Installation
WARNING: TO AVOID FIRE, SHOCK OR DEATH: TURN OFF POWER SUPPLYING THIS EQUIPMENT AND
CONFIRM POWER IS OFF, before installing, removing or servicing this equipment.

Remove insulation per strip gauge on device [about 13/16 in. (2.1 cm)].

Connect wires as shown below.
• Loop wires clockwise 3/4 turn around terminal screws. Line wire to BLACK screw, neutral wire to SILVER screw, load wire to RED screw,
traveler wire to BRASS screw, GREEN or BARE (ground) wire to GREEN screw.
• Firmly tighten screws over wire loops to 14-18 in. lb of torque. Terminal screws accept #12-14 AWG copper or #12 AWG copper-clad wire.
NOTES:
• Neutral MUST be wired for device to work.
• Primary Switch base must control the load.
• RED screw goes to load.
• Traveler requires 1 conductor only.

Mount device using long mounting screws.
Attach wallplate (not included).

Restore power at circuit breaker or fuse.

Push left side of latch in to pop out the
other end.

• Decora Evolve TM Primary Switches are not compatible with standard 3-way or 4-way switches. They
must be used with compatible Decora Evolve
• Use only one (1) Primary Switch in a multi-location circuit with up to 4 Companion Switches.
• Maximum wire length from the Primary Switch to all installed Companion Switches cannot exceed
300 ft (90 m).
• No user serviceable components. DO NOT attempt to service or repair.
• Use this device WITH COPPER OR COPPER-CLAD WIRE ONLY.
