UPGRADING A LIFTMASTER BG 3000-B1 TO AN BG 3000-X1
Perform the following steps to upgrade a BG 3000-B1 to an BG 3000-X1.
I. CHECK KIT CONTENTS FOR COMPLETENESS
1. Upgrade Instructions, BG 3000-B1 to BG 3000-X1 (Doc. No. 6001341)
2. Gate operator Controller Board (Part No. 11100073)
3. Installation and Operation Instructions for the BG 3000-X1 (Doc. No. 6001288)
4. BG 3000-X1 Gate Operator Programming Guide (-73 Board) (Doc. No. 6001312)
5. SL 1000\SW 2000\BG 3000\BG 3100-X1 Master/Slave Installation and Operation (-73 Board)
(Doc. No. 6001376)
6. SGoWin User Guide (-73 Board) (Doc. No. 6001329)
7. SGoWin Gate Operator Window Software (-73 Board) (2 diskettes) (Part No. 6050014)
8. FCC Label (Part No. 5100130)

II. UPGRADE PROCEDURES:
Refer to the Installation and Operation Instructions for the BG 3000-X1 for illustrations.
1. Unlock the gate operator door lock and door.
2. IMPORTANT: Turn off the gate operator power switch located on the bottom of the Control Box.
3. Loosen the mounting hardware and remove the Lexan cover from the Control Box.
4. Detach all connectors from the controller board.
5. Remove the mounting hardware ( 5 places), disengage the board from the plastic locking
standoffs (6 places), and remove the controller board from the Control Box.
6. Install the new board in the Control Box; align the holes with the plastic standoffs (6). Press the
board down gently to lock it onto the standoffs.
7. Reinstall the mounting hardware.
8. Attach all the connectors to the board according to the instructions in the Installation and
Operation Instructions for the BG 3000-X1, Part 2, Section L.
9. IMPORTANT: On Manual Input terminal TB2, Manual Stop must be connected to Common.
10. Turn on the dedicated circuit breaker and the gate operator power switch, then verify that the 7-
segment-display spells out "HELLO" sequentially. The only LED's that should remain ON are the
Manual Stop LED, the Open or Close limit LEDs if one of the limit switches is engaged, and the
Maglock LED if the Close limit switch is engaged.
11. Refer to the Installation and Operation Instructions for the BG 3000-X1 (-73 Board) for basic
programming to get the gate operator up and running. More advanced programming may either
be done on site using the BG 3000-X1 Gate Operator Programming Guide (-73 Board), or
remotely by using SGoWin and the SGoWin User Guide (-73 Board).
