Terminology

Throughout this manual, terms such as Standby and Talk Mode are used. Below is
the terminology explanation.
• S S t t a a n n d d b b y y M M o o d d e e - The handset is not in use, of f the base and line 1 or line 2 has
not been pressed. A dial tone is not present.
• T T a a l l k k M M o o d d e e - The handset is of f the base and line 1 or line 2 has been pressed
enabling a dial tone.

Setting Menu Options

There are four setup options available. They are Caller ID options [AutoTalk, CIDCW
(Caller ID on Call Waiting), Area Code], and Language. See page 17 for Area Code
setup instructions.
AutoTalk allows you to answer the phone without pressing line 1 or line 2.
If the phone rings when AutoTalk is on, simply remove the handset from the base
and the phone automatically answers the call. Or if the handset is not on the
base, press any key to answer the call. If the phone rings when AutoTalk is of f,
you must press line 1 or line 2 to answer the call.
