Before using the helmet, it is necessary to carefully read what is contained in the Safety Warning document, that you can find inside of the helmet packaging together with the present User manual. In case this document isn't there, please turn to an AGV Service Center before using the helmet.

INTRODUCTION TO K6 S HELMET

USE AND SAFETY DESTINATION

K6 S has been engineered for a motorcycle use. It must not be used for other purposes than motorcycle riding.


Before riding, carefully read the contents of the Safety Warning document.

THE VISOR

K6 S helmet visor is made of scratch-resistant polycarbonate and it is equipped with a mechanism which allows the visor to lift and remain open at 5 different stages.

The locking mechanism is centralised and, as well as guaranteeing the visor has a tight seal while riding, reduces the chances that it opens in case of fall, thus preventing any foreign bodies from coming into contact with the user's head.

WORKING POSITIONS

VISOR WORKING POSITIONS

  1. Visor closed.
  2. Visor in micro-opening position in order to allow a moderate air flow while riding at low speed.
  3. Visor at first intermediate opening position.
  4. Visor at second intermediate opening position.
  5. Visor in full opened position.


While riding it's always advisable to proceed with the visor completely closed, in position 1.


In case of prolonged inactivity, we recommend leaving the visor in a micro-opening position, in position 2.

MICRO-OPENING

VISOR MICRO-OPENING

Condition: the visor is opened.

  • Lower the visor (1) until the plastic hook (2) gets wedged into the opening button (3) at the first click.

→ The visor is now settled in micro-opening position, at about 10 mm of distance from the chin guard.


If necessary, ease the joint slightly pressing the opening button (2).

Condition: the visor is closed.

  • Press the opening button (3) and, in a single gesture, push the visor edge (1) upwards until the plastic hook (2) engages the opening button.

→ The visor is now settled in micro-opening position, at about 10 mm of distance from the chin guard.

REMOVAL

VISOR REMOVAL

Condition: the visor is in full opened position. Start the operation on the right side of the mechanism.

  • Pull downwards the spring release lever (1; arrow) and move the visor away (2) from the shell.
  • Repeat the same operation on the left side of the visor mechanism.

→ Now the visor is released and removable.

INSTALLATION

VISOR INSTALLATION

Condition: start the operation on the right side of the visor mechanism.

  • Turn the metal movement guide (1) so it is oriented in full opening position.
  • Place the visor (2) on the fastening mechanism and, activating the spring hooking lever (3), close the visor in the correct position.
  • Repeat the previous operations on the left side of the visor mechanism.

→ The visor is now fastened. Check the correct rotation in the different positions (see WORKING POSITIONS paragraph).

CLEANING

For an optimal cleaning, remove the visor from the helmet and clean it using a soft cloth moistened with lukewarm water: if the visor is very dirty, add some neutral soap to the water.

Rinse the visor under running water and dry it by dabbing it with a soft cloth. Do not dry by rubbing.

information Notice! The cleaning is easier and more effective when it's immediately done after the usage.


Never use petrol, benzene, glass cleaners, abrasive products or chemical solvents, as they may compromise the visor properties. Do not use sharp or pointed objects to remove sedimented dirt from the visor. Do not dry the visor on heat sources.

ANTI-FOG LENS OF PINLOCK® BRAND

The Pinlock® anti-fog lens, made of plastic material able to absorb moisture, limits the tarnishing onset creating an insulating and airtight chamber that does not compromise the field of vision.


The anti-fog devices delay the formation of the condensation, but do not guarantee that the phenomenon does not arise: in presence of such a device the time of tarnishing appearance will be larger. So, in extreme environmental conditions the visor tarnishing can take place.


The usage of Pinlock® lens is always recommended with an air temperature lower than 20°C and/or with higher moisture than 70% and/or in case of rain.

INSTALLATION

Condition: the visor has been removed from the helmet and it has been well-cleaned. The lens is placed on the visor inner surface, oriented with the silicone gasket in contact with the visor.
ANTI-FOG LENS OF PINLOCK BRAND INSTALLATION

  • Slightly enlarge the visor (1) holding its extremities (arrows).
  • Secure the lens (2) on the pins (3) of the visor; at first on one side, then on the other.
  • Make sure that the lens silicone gasket (4) perfectly adheres to the visor for its entire length.

→ Remove the protective film from the lens and install the visor on the hel- met (see REMOVAL paragraph).

REMOVAL

Condition: the visor has been removed from the helmet (see MICRO-OPENING paragraph).

  • Slightly enlarge the visor (1) holding its extremities (arrows).
  • Lift the lens (2) by acting on its lower central part, so release it from the pins (3) you find on the visor; first from one side, then from the other.

→ The lens is now detached. Remove it.


The Pinlock® branded lens must be handled with care and without the aid of tools that can scratch it or abrade the surface.

CLEANING

To clean the Pinlock® branded lens, use a mild liquid soap and a soft cloth moistened with lukewarm water. Before installing it again, it's necessary to let it perfectly dry for a day at least. Do not dry by rubbing.


Do not use abrasive tools or aggressive products containing ammonia or alcohol for cleaning.

THE CHEEK PADS

The inside part of K6 S helmet consists of: two lateral cheek pads connected by the neck roll, the top crown pad, the wind protector and the chin strap cover. These components are individually extractable.

REMOVAL

Condition: place yourself in a sitting position laying the helmet upside down on your knees. Start the operation from the right side.
THE CHEEK PADS - REMOVAL

  • Pull the cheek pad (1) and extract it (arrows) until the plastic attachment band is unfastened (2) from its coupling place between the shell and the inner polystyrene.
  • Release the cheek pad from the shell by unfastening the 3 automatic buttons (4, below image) that keep it secured to the polystyrene.
  • Repeat the previous operations on the other side.
  • Remove the chin strap from the housing of the cheek pad.

→ The cheek pads are now released and it's possible to remove them.

INSTALLATION

Condition: place yourself in a sitting position laying the helmet upside down on your knees. Start the operation from the right side.
CHEEK PADS INSTALLATION

  • Move the cheek pad (1) close to the inside of the shell.
  • Insert the chin strap into the designated housing (2) on the cheek pads.
  • Insert the cheek pads attachment band between the outer shell and the inner polystyrene, securing the shaped edge (3) to the two red clips (4).

information Notice! It's advisable to secure at first the cheek pads rear part and then the front one.

  • Secure the cheek pads to the shell by fastening the 3 automatic buttons (5) that fix it to the inner polystyrene.
  • Repeat the previous operations on the other side.

→ Check if the cheek pad is firmly secured.

THE CROWN PAD

REMOVAL

Condition: place yourself in a sitting position laying the helmet upside down on your knees.
CROWN PAD REMOVAL

  • Unhook the two front automatic buttons (1) and the two rear ones (2).

→ The crown pad is released from the polystyrene and now it's possible to remove it.


Before removing the crown pad, make sure that the automatic buttons are unhooked in order to avoid unstitching the textile parts.

information Notice! The crown pad removal is easier if the cheek pads and the wind protector have already been removed from the helmet.

INSTALLATION

Condition: place yourself in a sitting position laying the helmet upside down on your knees.

  • Insert the crown pad into the shell, orienting it correctly with the white label (3) towards the rear part of the helmet.
  • Secure the two front automatic buttons (1) and the two rear ones (2).

→ The crown pad is now fastened to the shell.

information Notice! The crown pad installation is easier if the cheek pads and the wind protector have been previously removed from the helmet.

THE WIND PROTECTOR

REMOVAL

Condition: place yourself in a sitting position laying the helmet upside down on your knees.
WIND PROTECTOR REMOVAL

  • Pull the wind protector out by holding it in its central area (1).
  • Remove the central hooking tooth (2) and the 2 lateral ones (3), placed one on the right side and one on the left side.

INSTALLATION

Condition: place yourself in a sitting position laying the helmet upside down on your knees.

  • Hold the wind protector in its central area (1).
  • Fasten it to the shell guiding the insertion of the central hooking tooth (2), then the two lateral ones.

THE RESCUE PULL SYSTEM

Only to use in case of emergency after an accident. The RPS allows a quick removal of the cheek pads by the first aid staff.

The mechanism works thanks to two red laces that are placed below the cheek pads and are connected to the quick release buttons which secure the cheek pads to the inner polystyrene. Pulling the laces, the buttons get released, thus allowing to remove the cheek pads without previously taking off the helmet from the user's head.

ACTIVATION

Condition: the helmet wearer is lying on the ground in supine position.
RESCUE PULL SYSTEM ACTIVATION

  • Cut or loosen the retention system.
  • Pull the two red laces (1) – first one, then the other – until you perceive that the automatic buttons get released.

→ The cheek pads are now unfastened from the helmet and they can be removed.


Gently remove the cheek pads moving the user's hear as little as possible.
Never pull the emergency red laces while riding.
Do not remove the cheek pads using the RPS to perform the maintenance.
Only use AGV original cheek pads.
Use the RPS only in case of emergency.

THE BREATH DEFLECTOR

REMOVAL

Condition: place yourself in a sitting position laying the helmet on your knees.
BREATH DEFLECTOR REMOVAL

  • Grab the breath deflector and remove it from its housing, first detaching the lateral attachment teeth (1), then the central one (2).

INSTALLATION

Condition: place yourself in a sitting position laying the helmet on your knees.

  • Clasp the breath deflector into its housing, first inserting the central hooking tooth (2), then the lateral ones (1).

THE CHIN STRAP COVER

REMOVAL

information Notice! The lining removal is easier if the cheek pads were previously removed from the helmet.

Condition: place yourself in a sitting position laying the helmet upside down on your knees.
CHIN STRAP COVER REMOVAL

  • Unfasten the red automatic button (1) that connects the chin strap cover (2) to the retention system (3).
  • Extract the chin strap cover from the retention system lace (arrow).
  • Repeat the previous operations on the other strip of the retention system (4).

INSTALLATION

Condition: place yourself in a sitting position laying the helmet upside down on your knees.

  • Put the retention system lace (3) into the chin strap cover (2).
  • Clamp the retention system lace to the chin strap through the specific red automatic button (1).
  • Repeat the previous operations on the other strip of the retention system (4).

THE AIR VENTS

FRONT VENTS

Condition: wear the helmet and make sure of the three upper air vents location and their drive.

  • To open the lateral air vents (1), move the sliders backwards. To close them, move them forward.
  • To open the central top vent (2), move the slider upwards. To close it, move it downwards.

CHIN VENTS

Condition: wear the helmet and make sure of the two chin air vents location and their drive.
THE AIR VENTS - CHIN VENTS

  • To open the chin air vents (1), move the slider (2) downwards.
  • To close the chin air vents, move the sliders upwards.

THE RETENTION SYSTEM

THE RETENTION SYSTEM

CLOSURE


For a secure tightening of the retention system, please read the information on the Safety Warning document.

Condition: the helmet is worn and retention system is loose.

  • Insert the chin strap lace (1) into the two D-rings (2).
  • Insert again the chin strap through the inner ring (3). So pull the final red lace (4) until you feel the strap setting against your mandible.
  • Fold the chin strap and secure the anti-waving automatic button (5).

→ Check if the helmet stays firmly secured on the head.

OPENING

Condition: the helmet is worn and retention system is tied.

  • Unfasten the anti-waving automatic button (5).

→ Using the final red lace, loosen the chin strap by removing it from the rings.

LUBRICATING OIL FOR VISOR MECHANISM

The supplied silicone oil application avoids the arise of corrosion and parasitic creakings.

Condition: place the helmet on one of the two sides on a flat surface.

  • Apply a moderate quantity of oil to the visor mechanism.
  • Remove the oil excesses with a cloth.


In case of contact with the skin, wash with plenty of water and soap. In case of contact with eyes, rinse with plenty of water and consult a doctor. In case of ingestion consult a doctor. In case of inhalation, breathe in open air. Avoid exposure to sunlight, keep it in a dry place and at a temperature under 50°C. Keep out of reach of children.


Prevent the product from entering into the ground/subsoil. Prevent the product from flowing into surface water and/or into the sewer system. Keep contaminated washing water and eliminate it. In case of penetration into watercourses, soil or sewer system, inform the responsible authorities. Suitable material for collection: absorbent, organic and sand material. Do not dispose of the container into the environment.
