DEFINITIONS Articulation – The crane pivots in the middle to allow steering and slewing of the load. 1 & 2 are being telescoped. Boom extension 3 is powered on the AT 40 however there is no compensation of the winch rope as the third extension is being extended.
Pick & carry operation is permitted through the full Articulation range, however, Rated Capacity may be reduced by articulation, pitch or roll angle changes. The LMI in the AT 40 dynamically calculates rated capacity taking crane tilt and articulation into account.

This code is displayed on the crane’s LMI after selection by the operator. The AT 40 is supplied with both static and pick and carry charts in all duties, under the same duty number. When the crane is stationary, the LMI will display a rated capacity based on the static chart for the particular duty.

CRANE RATED CAPACITY CALCULATION FOR STEERING ARTICULATION AND/OR SLOPE The LMI uses a complex algorithm to calculate the crane rated capacity due to the configuration of the crane and slope position. The printed rated capacity manual is only a “snapshot” of what the crane is rated to in the prescribed configuration based on flat level ground.
