The BAline product line is a system consisting of individual
modules for room and building automation (such as sun
shading systems, lighting, windows, HVAC, etc.). Each
basic module for bus coupling
(e.g. BAline LONMCM) can be connected to up to
8 IO modules. The basic module can be combined with
one or more IO modules as needed. With this system,
rooms can be automated in a wide variety of ways.
The BAline MIO 16M230 SMI 8I and
BAline MIO 16MDC SMI LoVo 8I modules are extension
modules with an SMI interface for use with a WAREMA
BAline MCM bus coupler for switching and controlling. A
maximum of 16 motors with on-site fuse protection can be
connected to the SMI interface. A maximum of 16 groups
can be actuated. When movement is requested, the device
optionally first switches on the voltage of the SMI drives
and then sends, with a time delay, the SMI telegrams to
the drives. In addition, the module has inputs via which
optional sensors with a standard signal output or standard
push buttons can be connected.
The SMI interface and the drives connected to terminal 7
L
can be de-energised to prevent a quiescent current
out
load. The SMI interface is always supplied with 230 V AC
auxiliary voltage.
The drives are directly operated with either 230 V AC or a
separate 24 V DC power supply unit with, depending on
requirements.
Intended use
BAline MIO 16M230 SMI 8I and
BAline MIO 16MDC SMI LoVo 8 are devices for controlling
sun shading systems with SMI motors Any use other
than the purpose described in these instructions requires
approval from the manufacturer.

ARNING
The electrical installation must be
performed by a certified electrician in
accordance with VDE 0100 or the legal
requirements and standards of the country
in which the device is being installed. The
electrician must observe the installation
instructions included with the supplied
electrical devices.
W
ARNING
If it is assumed that hazard-free operation
will not be possible, the device may not
be started or must be deactivated. This
assumption is justified if
the housing or the connecting lines show
signs of damage
the device is no longer working.
W
ARNING
For the safe functioning of the entire
system it is necessary that the drives,
motor control units and power supply
units are accurately coordinated with one
another. Therefore, please contact our
Project Support before planning.

ARNING
The control software loaded at the factory
cannot be used for operation in a system.
The control software loaded at the factory
must be replaced by system-specific
control software.
Installation
The module is designed for distributor installation (DIN rail-
mounted housing (REG)).
When installing the device in a distributor, clip it onto a
DIN rail (TH 35-15). To make connection work easier,
the terminal covers can be removed (see Fig. 2). One
of the terminal covers can be removed to connect the
network.
Remove the terminal covers:
Insert a suitable screwdriver
into the notch.
