Installation

The mattress should only be installed and used by a clinician or a trained lay operator. A lay operator shall be considered trained once they have
fully read this user manual.
The mattress packaging will include the mattress and its associated cover already fitted. Remove all packaging and protective material. Avoid using
any sharp instruments to remove this packaging as this could damage the cover. If the mattresses has not been delivered vacuum packed, it can be
used immediately. If the mattresses has been delivered compressed and vacuum packed, it is advised that the mattress should lay unpacked, on a
flat surface, for at least 2 hours before it is used.
The mattress should be placed directly onto the bed surface. It is permissible to use the mattress with adjustable, profiling beds.
Typically, the user will be placed in a supine position on the mattress.
Wipe the mattress down before covering the mattress with a loose-fitting sheet.
If the cover needs to be removed, this is easily done by locating the zip in the bottom left corner and unzipping along the three (3) sides of the
mattress. This will allow for the mattress cover to be completely removed.

Cleaning and Maintenance

Mattress cleaning should take place before and after use, and between patients. The mattress can be used by more than one person, provided it is
decontaminated as per below instructions, in between each user.
In the Case of Light Soiling
In the absence of gross contamination or unusual risk, the removal of dirt and spillages with clean, warm water and neutral detergent should be
sufficient. However if required the cover can be wiped down with a solution of Sodium Hypochlorite diluted to 1,000ppm available chlorine. Ensure
that the cover is rinsed with clean water using a single use non-abrasive cloth, and thoroughly dried. Ensure adequate ventilation.
In the Case of Heavy Soiling
In cases of gross contamination the mattress cover should be cleaned first with detergent and water then with a solution of Sodium Hypochlorite
diluted to 10,000ppm available chlorine. Rinse well with clean water and a damp single use non-abrasive cloth. Ensure adequate ventilation.
Machine Laundering
If required, the Mattress Cover may be removed and machine-washed at a temperature of 80°C, for not less than 10 minutes.
Drying
To avoid shrinkage of the cover line dry in an indoor clean environment or tumble dry on a low heat setting not exceeding 40°C and for not longer
than 10 minutes. Covers must be thoroughly dried before re-fitting to the mattress.
Maintenance
Inspect the inner and outer surfaces of covers, the seams, and zips regularly for signs of damage. If the cover is stained, soiled or torn, the foam
core should also be examined.
It is recommended that an audit of all mattresses is carried out annually.
Re-Use, Storage and Disposal
Re-Use
The product is reusable. Before using the product again with a new user, it is recommended to clean the product using the above instructions.
Storage
It is advisable to store the mattress off the floor in a clean, dry environment. It is advisable to store the mattress flat. Do not store the mattress near
heating devices. Do not store the mattress where it might be prone to damage.
Disposal
All contaminated mattresses must be disposed of as clinical waste in accordance with regional regulations and local legislation and guidelines.
