    Using an incompatible battery may increase the risk of fire or explosion. Replace the battery only with a compatible battery purchased from Dell. The lithium-ion battery and the NiMH are designed to work with your Dell computer. Do not use a battery from other computers with your computer.

    • The computer is running on battery power. • The battery is discharging. • The computer is connected to an electrical outlet and running on AC power. • The battery is charging. • The computer is connected to an electrical outlet and running on AC power.

    2 Connect the computer to an electrical outlet and turn it back on. The battery recalibration message should appear on the screen immediately following the DELL logo. 3 To skip the battery recalibration process and continue the system boot, press <Esc>.

    Notebook System Software (NSS) If you reinstall the operating system for your Dell™ computer, it is also recommended to reinstall the NSS utility. The utility is available on the optional Drivers and Utilities CD and on the Dell Support website at support.dell.com.

    NSS provides critical updates for your operating system and support for Dell 3.5-inch USB floppy ® ® drives, Intel Pentium M processors, Intel Celeron devices. NSS is necessary for the correct operation of your Dell computer. The software automatically detects your computer and operating system and installs the updates appropriate for your configuration.

    If the Pre-boot System Assessment completes successfully, you receive the message Dell Diagnostic Utility Partition. Press any key to continue 6 Press any key to start the Dell Diagnostics from the diagnostics utility partition on your hard drive.
