  • Page 7 Pre-disassembly Instructions Do the following prior to starting any maintenance procedures: 1. Place the system on a stable work surface. 2. Remove the AC adapter from any of the ports (A) or (B) of the system (Figure 1-1). 3. Remove all cables from system. Figure 1-1.

    DIMM (Dual In-line Memory Module) Removal Prerequisite: Battery Pack Removal 1. Find the DIMM module (A) in the system (Figure 1-13). 2. Push the DIMM module clips (B) outwards (Figure 1-13).     LCD Module Removal Prerequisite: Battery Pack Removal 1. Disconnect the WLAN antenna cables from the WLAN board connectors (A) (Figure 1-23). 2. Remove the WLAN antenna cables from the rubber guide (B) and then from the remaining cable guides on the top assembly (Figure 1-23).
  • Page 23 3. Disconnect the eDP cable from the mainboard connector (C) and unroute from the cable guide (Figure 1-24). CAUTION: eDP cable can be damaged if removed while the mainboard connector is locked. Figure 1-24. LCD Module Removal 4. Remove eight (8) screws securing the LCD hinges in place (Figure 1-25).

    RTC Battery Removal Prerequisite: SSD Module Removal 1. Using plastic tweezers, carefully pry to detach the adhesive tape underneath the RTC battery (A) but DO NOT remove yet (Figure 1-29). 2. Disconnect the RTC battery cable from the USB board connector (B) (Figure 1-29).

    Mainboard Removal Prerequisite: Ensure that the SSD module, DIMM modules, Right fan module, Left fan module, Heatsink, and WLAN module have been disassembled prior removing the mainboard. 1. Remove four (4) screws securing the LCD hinge in place (Figure 1-30). Figure 1-30.

Release the antenna cables from the rubber guides (A) and (B) (Figure 1-33). 5. Carefully detach the mylar tape (C) from the keyboard backlight FFC (Figure 1-33).
  • Page 29 6. Disconnect the USB board FFC from the mainboard connector (D) (Figure 1-34). 7. Disconnect the right speaker cable from the mainboard connector (E) and remove from the rubber guides (Figure 1-34). 8. Disconnect the fingerprint FFC from the mainboard connector (F) (Figure 1-34).

  • Page 34 2. Disconnect the touchpad FFC (D) from the mainboard and touchpad module connectors. Then detach the portion of the touchpad FFC from the touchpad module and remove it (Figure 1-41). CAUTION: Touchpad FFC (Flexible Flat Circuit) can be damaged if removed while the mainboard and touchpad module connectors are locked.
  • Page 35 3. Disconnect the fingerprint FFC (E) from the mainboard and touchpad module connectors (Figure 1-42). 4. Detach the portion of the fingerprint FFC from the adhesive mylar and then remove (Figure 1-42). CAUTION: Fingerprint board FFC (Flexible Flat Circuit) can be damaged if removed while the mainboard and touchpad connectors are locked.
  • Page 36 6. Slightly lift the keyboard membrane for better access of the touchpad screws. Then remove three (3) screws securing the touchpad module in place (Figure 1-44). Figure 1-44. Touchpad Module Removal 7. Using the screwdriver, push the screw sleeve (G) firmly to release it from the top assembly (Figure 1-45).

    Top Assembly Removal Prerequisite: Ensure that the Left speaker, Mainboard, Touchpad, DC-IN cable, Right speaker, LED board, USB board and LCD module have been disassembled prior removing the top assembly. NOTE: NOTE: The keyboard is included as part of the top assembly and can not be disassembled. In the event that the keyboard can no longer be used, replace the entire top assembly.
