Total Coverage Joystick - To activate the total coverage function, press and hold the TOTAL COVERAGE joystick in the direction you want the massage nodes to travel. The nodes can travel up, down, left, or right anywhere across the back of the cushion. Once you release the joystick, the nodes will perform spot Shiatsu in that location.
NOTE that if you are using a preset massage program, engaging the TOTAL COVERAGE joystick will override that program and move the nodes to your desired position. The TOTAL COVERAGE joystick will also only work in Shiatsu mode.
Shoulder Massage - To turn on the massage in the shoulders, simply press the SHIATSU button in the shoulder area. The LED light will illuminate confirming your selection. To deselect, press the button again.
Shoulder Position Adjustment - Once the shoulder massage function is on, you may adjust the massage position in the shoulder area by holding down either arrow button until the desired position is reached. The up arrow will move the mechanism up and the down arrow will move it down. Once you release the button the mechanism will stop in that place.
Shiatsu Massage - Shiatsu is a deep kneading circular massage
Shiatsu Programs for the Back - Choose from 3 preset programs where the Shiatsu massage travels up and down in a specific area of the back. To select a program, simply press the button and the LED will illuminate. To deselect, press the button again or press another button.
Power Button - To turn the unit on, first press the POWER button. The LED indicator will illuminate and confirm your selection. To turn the unit off, simply press the button again. The LED indicator will blink with the massage mechanism returns to its lowest point and then it will turn off.
Demo Button - For a brief demonstration of the features of the Total Coverage Shiatsu Massage Cushion, press the DEMO button. The unit will briefly go through each function. Once complete, the unit automatically turns off. The LED light will blink to indicate active functions.
Heat - For soothing heat when massage is on, simply press the HEAT button and the corresponding red LED will illuminate. To deselect, press the button again and the corresponding LED will turn off. Heat is available in both the back and shoulder areas, which are controlled separately. For your safety, heat cannot be turned on if the corresponding massage program is not on.
Rolling Programs for the Back - Choose from 3 preset programs where the Rolling massage travels up and down in a specific area of the back. To select a program, simply press the button and the LED will illuminate. To deselect, press the button again or press another button.
Width Adjustment - While the unit is in Rolling massage for the back, press this button to adjust the distance or width between the massage heads. With each press, the massage heads will move to the next available position.
NOTE: The moving dual massage mechanism on the back always "parks" or finishes in its lowest position. It will continue to this position after the power has been turned off. If the electrical supply is interrupted, the mechanism will "park" or move to its lowest position once power is restored.
NOTE: As with all high-quality massage products, there is a 15-minute auto shut-off on the massaging mechanism. Do not use for longer than 15 minutes at a time.

Instructions for Use

The Total Coverage Shiatsu Massage Cushion comes with two screws located on the back of the unit to protect the massage mechanism during shipment, which must be removed before the first use to allow the unit to function properly. Use the provided allen wrench. Then, properly dispose of the screws.

Failure to remove both screws may cause permanent damage to the massage cushion.
To reduce the risk of electric shock, this appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). This plug will fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician to install the proper outlet. Do not change the plug in any way.
Untie cord strap, extend cord and insert plug into 120-volt household electrical outlet to power unit.
Attach the cushion to most chairs for a luxurious massage as you read, rest or even work.

Strapping System

The Total Coverage Shiatsu Massage Cushion incorporates a unique strapping system which allows you to fasten it to almost any chair. Just slip the straps over the seat or chair and adjust fastening straps to secure. Your massager won't slip or slide away.

Do Not use Spot Shiatsu with heat for the back in one area for more than 3 minutes.
Please note:
Not recommended for use on wooden surfaces as the zipper may damage the wood. Caution is also recommended when using on upholstered furniture.
NOTE: Only gentle force should be exerted against the unit in order to eliminate any/ all risk of injury. You may soften massage force by placing a towel between yourself and the unit.

Maintenance

To Store

Place massager in its box or in a safe, dry, cool place. Avoid contact with sharp edges or pointed objects which might cut or puncture the fabric surface. To avoid breakage, do not wrap the power cord around the unit. Do not hang the unit by the hand control cord.

To Clean

Unplug the unit and allow it to cool before cleaning. Clean only with a soft, slightly damp sponge. Never allow water or any other liquids to come into contact with the unit.

  • Do not immerse in any liquid to clean.
  • Never use abrasive cleaners, brushes, gasoline, kerosene, glass / furniture polish or paint thinner to clean.
  • Do not attempt to repair the Total Coverage Shiatsu Massaging Cushion. There are no user serviceable parts. For service, send the unit to the HoMedics address.

TO REDUCE THE RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK:

  • Always unplug the appliance from the electrical outlet immediately after using and before cleaning.
  • DO NOT reach for an appliance that has fallen into water. Unplug it immediately.

  • An appliance should never be left unattended when plugged in. Unplug from outlet when not in use and before putting on or taking off parts or attachments.
  • Close supervision is necessary when this appliance is used by, on or near children, invalids or disabled persons.
  • Use this appliance only for its intended use as described in this manual. Do not use attachments not recommended by HoMedics; specifically any attachments not provided with the unit.
  • NEVER operate this appliance if it has a damaged cord or plug, if it is not working properly, if it has been dropped or damaged, or dropped into water. Return it to HoMedics Service Center for examination and repair.
  • Keep cord away from heated surfaces.
  • NEVER drop or insert any object into any opening.
  • DO NOT operate where aerosol (spray) products are being used or where oxygen is being administered.
  • DO NOT operate under a blanket or pillow. Excessive heating can occur and cause fire, electrocution or injury to persons.
  • DO NOT carry this appliance by the power cord or use cord as handle.
  • To disconnect, turn all controls to the "off" position, then remove plug from outlet.
  • DO NOT use outdoors.
  • NEVER operate the appliance with he air openings blocked. Keep the air openings free of lint, hair and the like.
  • Use heated surfaces carefully. May cause serious burns. Do not use over insensitive skin areas or in the presence of poor circulation. The unattended use of heat by children or incapacitated persons may be dangerous.


All servicing of this massager must be performed by authorized HoMedics service personnel only.

  • This product is not intended for medical use. It is intended only to provide a luxurious massage.
  • Consult your doctor prior to using this product, if
    • You are pregnant
    • You have a pacemaker
    • You have any concerns regarding your health
  • Not recommended for use by Diabetics.
  • Never leave the appliance unattended, especially if children are present.
  • Never cover the appliance when it is in operation.
  • Do not use this product for more than 15 minutes at a time.
  • Extensive use could lead to the product's excessive heating and shorter life. Should this occur, discontinue use and allow the unit to cool before operating.
  • Never use this product directly on swollen or inflamed areas or skin eruptions.
  • DO NOT use this product as a substitute for medical attention.
  • DO NOT use this product before bed. The massage has a stimulating effect and can delay sleep.
  • NEVER use this product while in bed.
  • This product should NEVER be used by any individual suffering from any physical ailment that would limit the user's capacity to operate the controls.
  • This unit should not be used by children or invalids without adult supervision.
  • This product is not for use in automobiles.


To avoid pinching do not lean on the dual massage mechanism in the cushion when adjusting your body position.
Do not jam or force any part of your body in the moving massage mechanism.
