OWNER'S HANDBOOK
The Acute Rise and Recline armchair from Drive DeVilbiss Healthcare is available in
anti-microbial and crib 5 fire retardant PVC fabric. The chair has a weight limit of 130kg
and is suitable for many hospital and institutional environments.
The chair comes with a 3-button handset to allow the patient to operate the chair as a rise
and recline armchair, and a 2-button handset that will allow a recline only function. This
can be used as aid to patient rehabilitation.
The chair also has retractable castors so that it can be moved indoors (without occupant).

  • Page 2 PERSONAL SAFETY Please follow the safety guidelines below to ensure that you get the best from your armchair for many years to come. Failure to follow these guidelines could result in injury or damage:  Take your key. The handset comes with a key jack. It is recommended that you remove the key when you are not using the armchair to prevent anybody else using the armchair and becoming trapped.
  • Page 3 INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS  To assemble your rise recline armchair, first install the back rest. Slide the back on ensuring the two back rest brackets go over the two back rest receiver brackets on the armchair. Push down hard on the back rest to lock in position.
  • Page 4 TRANSIT FUNCTION The chair comes with a transit function to allow the chair to be moved around when not in use. This function uses four wheels that are retracted when this function is not in use, to allow the chair to be operated without moving around. To Use the Transit function Ensure that nobody is sat in the chair and the chair Lock the lever in place as shown.
  • Page 5 OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS AND GUIDELINES General Operation  To allow the armchair to operate, the key jack must first be inserted in to the safety lock. This is a safety precaution and the key jack should be removed when the handset is not in use to prevent accidental movement of the armchair.   • Page 8 APPENDIX A: INSTRUCTION SHEET BACKREST INSTALLATION PROCEDURE The backrest locking brackets are located inside the backrest (as shown). The backrest and chair are packed separately. To install the backrest, please the backrest on the two receivers at the rear of the chair. Push down on the backrest, ensuring the backrest locks in to position on both sides with an audible click.
