They're designed to work together and have been tested to ensure they're safe. Always plug the power cord into an outlet that's easy to reach. When you need to unplug the monitor, hold the plug firmly and pull it out of the outlet.

  • Page 13 Attaching a VESA mount Spectrum is compatible with most VESA mounting arms and mounts (sold separately). The VESA mount must support the 100×100mm VESA Mounting Standard and should be rated to hold at least 5.3kg of weight. IMPORTANT You might need additional tools such as a screwdriver (purchased separately) when you attach a mounting device.
  • Page 14 Connecting the power cable • Connect the power cord to the AC adapter and plug the other end into a grounded AC outlet. Then connect the adapter to the DC power connector on the rear of the monitor. CAUTION To reduce the risk of electric shock or damage to the equipment: Only use the power cord and AC adapter that came with your monitor.
  • Page 15 Connecting video cables • Connect one end of an HDMI cable to one of the HDMI ports on the rear of the monitor, and the other end to the HDMI port on the source device; and/or • Connect one end of a DisplayPort cable to the DisplayPort connector on the rear of the monitor, and the other end to the DisplayPort connector on the source device.
  • Page 16 Connecting an audio device Spectrum has a built-in digital-to-analog converter (DAC) that sends audio signals from the video source device to the amplified 3.5mm audio jack connector on the rear of the monitor. • Connect the 3.5mm audio jack plug to the audio port on the rear of the monitor to make use of your speakers, headphones, or other audio device.
  • Page 17 Setting up your workspace …or setting up your battle station. When setting up your workspace, whether it's for work or gaming, it's important to prioritize your safety and health. This means maintaining proper posture, health, and work habits, as well as setting up an ergonomic workspace with a properly positioned monitor.
  • Page 18 Stay active Reposition your monitor as you adjust your working posture throughout the workday. Don’t stay in one fixed posture for too long, but avoid slouching or leaning, and get up to move around regularly. To avoid discomfort and injury, it's important to take regular breaks while using the computer. Go outside, take a few deep breaths of fresh air, stretch, and exercise to take care of your body.
  • Page 19 Watch your eyes Take frequent breaks to rest your eyes. To avoid eye strain, it can help to look away from the monitor and focus on a distant point. Make sure your room is well-lit, and wear glasses or contact lenses if necessary.
  • Page 20 Using the monitor Turning on the monitor 1. Press the power button on the computer to turn it on. 2. Press the power button along the bottom of the monitor to turn it on. When the monitor is first turned on, the monitor automatically scans the signal inputs for an active input and uses that input for the screen.
  • Page 21 Cool features Dual-mode Under normal circumstances, the monitor operates at a refresh rate of up to 240Hz. However, due to Dual-mode, this limit can be doubled to 480Hz at the cost of resolution. This allows for even more frames to be shown in games where resolution is not as important as motion smoothness. •...
  • Page 22 Quick actions If the OSD menu, crosshair overlay, and frame rate counter overlay are not active, pressing the joystick in any direction will perform quick actions. This lets you quickly enable or disable features, or cycle through available options: • Pressing down will cycle video input sources.
  • Page 23 Using the on-screen display Use the on-screen display (OSD) menu to display information about your monitor, or to adjust the picture properties and monitor features based on your preferences. Controlling the OSD menu While the monitor is turned on, you can access the menu and make adjustments using the joystick along the bottom of the monitor.
  • Page 24 OSD components Live information display The live information display (1) shows current information about your monitor and its signal source. Here you can quickly find information about your active inputs, resolution, refresh rate, and upscaling mode, as well as details about your image signal such as the use of HDR, variable refresh rate technology, chroma subsampling, and image signal compression.
  • Page 25 Input/Output menu Primary video source Selects from which port the video source device is connected. When set to ‘Select automatically’, the monitor automatically switches to an active input, if the current input is not active. NOTE When set to ‘Select automatically’, the monitor may need more time to resume from sleep, as it will cycle through the available ports on by one, looking for a signal.
  • Page 26 HDMI port 2 mode Selects between the maximum performance of HDMI 2.1, or maximum compatibility with previous HDMI versions for HDMI port 2. Volume Adjusts the output volume for the built-in audio jack. CAUTION To reduce the risk of personal injury, adjust the source device volume before using headphones, earbuds, or a headset.
  • Page 27 Gaming menu Crosshair Enables or disables a targeting reticule overlay. NOTE While the OSD menu is active, the crosshair cannot be displayed. If enabled, it will appear once the menu is closed. By default, you can quickly toggle the crosshair on and off by pressing the joystick right when the OSD menu is not active.

  • Page 29 Picture menu Color preset Selects the color standard in which the monitor operates. When set to one of the pre-set standards, relevant settings in the picture menu are adjusted to match the chosen standard. If any of these settings is changed individually, this setting will update to reflect the new standard or will show ‘Custom’...
  • Page 30 Brightness control Selects how brightness is determined based on algorithms and user settings. When set to ‘Standard’ or ’Tempered’, the display will use the peak luminance control (PLC) algorithm (also known as ‘automatic brightness limiter’ or ‘ABL’) to provide the highest possible brightness, based on the total power consumption and brightness output of the display.
  • Page 31 Gamma Adjusts the brightness curve between light and dark areas of the monitor in SDR content. NOTE High dynamic range (HDR) relies on a perceptual quantizer – electro-optical transfer function (PQ-EOTF) to determine exact brightness values, instead of using a gamma curve. Because of this, the Gamma control is not available when the monitor is in HDR mode.
  • Page 32 Performance menu Adaptive-Sync Enables or disables support for variable refresh rates (VRR) through adaptive-sync technology. This feature enables AMD FreeSync, NVIDIA G-SYNC, VESA Adaptive-Sync, and HDMI-VRR features. Anti-flicker Sets a lower limit to the Adaptive Sync range, to avoid inconsistent or rapidly fluctuating brightness at inconsistent low frame rates (also called ‘VRR gamma flicker’).

This does not overwrite the user presets. NOTE You can quickly load factory defaults by pressing and holding the Power button for eight seconds.

  • Page 38 Maintenance menu IMPORTANT Spectrum Black comes with a suite of technologies that are designed to prevent or reduce the risk of image retention. Turning off the settings in the Maintenance menu may increase image quality or image consistency but will also increase the risk of image retention. Screen shift Selects if and how the screen shifts.
  • Page 39 Convex Power Control Enables or disables convex power control (CPC). When set to ‘On’, the monitor reduces luminance farther away from the center of the image. This reduces power draw and helps to prevent image retention. Enables or disables target current controlled contrast enhancement (TCE). When set to ‘On’, the monitor constantly adjust the brightness curve based on the displayed image.
