To remove and clean it:
Take the cap off the plug (1).
Clean all dirt off the base of the spark
plug, then unscrew it with the provided
wrench and extract it from its seat, taking
care to prevent dust or other substances
from getting inside the cylinder.
Make sure that there are neither carbon
deposits, nor corrosion marks on the
e l e c t r o d e s a n d o n t h e i n s u l a t i n g
material; if necessary, clean them with
the special spark plugs cleaners and/or
a metal brush.
Blow the spark off with compressed air
to prevent the removed dirt from getting
into the engine.
If the spark plug has cracks on the
insulating material, corroded electrodes
or excessive deposits, it must be
changed.

Check
the
electrode
gap
with
thickness gauge.
This must be as follows:
0.024 - 0.028 in
M50
MC50
(0.6 √ 0.7 mm);
0.028 - 0.031 in (0.7 √ 0.8 mm);
MC150
adjust the spark plug gap if necessary
b y c a r e f u l l y b e n d i n g t h e e a r t h
electrode.
Make sure the washer is in good
condition. Fit the washer and screw the
spark plug finger-tight to avoid damaging
the thread.
Tighten the spark plug onto the washer
with the provided wrench by turning it
half a turn.
Spark plug driving torque:
14.46 ftlb (20 Nm);

8.68 – 10.13 ftlb (12-14 Nm).

CAUTION
The spark plug must be well tightened,
otherwise the engine may overheat and
be seriously damaged.
Only use recommended spark plugs,
see page 104 (TECHNICAL DATA); use
of incorrect spark plugs can reduce
performance and engine life.
Refit the spark plug cap (1).
Refit the inspection cover.
