Flying a Kairos UxV/35 Flight Basket Drone
This document will guide a user with little or no experience to be able to successfully operate a
UxV/35 Small Form Factor Drone in manual only mode.
A Basic Overview
For simplicity's sake, we will assume that a Kairos Taranis x7 transmitter (controller) is being
used and that the left stick controls yaw and throttle, and the right stick controls roll and pitch.
There are 4 main controls for a multirotor aircraft
Roll: Done by pushing the right stick left or right. Literally rolls the drone, which
maneuvers the drone left or right
Pitch: Done by pushing the right stick forwards or backwards. Tilts the drone, which
maneuvers the drone forward or backward
Yaw: Done by pushing the left stick to the left or right. Rotates the drone left or right.
Points the front of the copter in different directions and helps with changing directions
while flying
Throttle: To increase, push the left stick forwards. To decrease, pull the left stick
backward. This adjusts the altitude, or height, of the drone.
Think in terms of how the drone will move, rather than how it is oriented towards you. Your
frame of reference is always the drone and not you.
