DOLBY DIGITAL OUT/MPEG-2 DIGITAL OUT (PAL Only)
A digital surround sound format that is recorded by Dolby Digital/MPEG-2
Audio. Select the suitable output signal type of DIGITAL AUDIO OUT-
PUT/MPET-2 DIGITAL OUT (Bitstream/PCM) during playback.
DTS
This program features discrete 5.1 channel sound-track and must be
played though DTS-capable equipment. When played through DTS
equipment, sound will be heard from all five system speakers and a sub-
woofer.
DYNAMIC COMPRESSION
Compresses the dynamic range (quietest to loudest sound) of a disc's
soundtrack. This function is disc-dependent, and may not work with all
DVDs.
2 x SCAN AUDIO
Turns audio off or on when a disc is in 2 x playback mode.

DOLBY DIGITAL OUTPUT
PCM
Converts to PCM(2CH) of 48kHz/16Bit. Select PCM when using the
Analog Audio Outputs.
BITSTREAM
Convert to Dolby Digital BITSTREAM (5.1CH). Select BITSTEREAM
when using the Digital Audio Output.
MPEG-2 DIGITAL OUT (PAL Only)
PCM
Converts to PCM (2CH) of 48KHz/16Bit. Select PCM when using the
Analog Audio Outputs.
BITSTREAM
Convert to MPEG-2 Audio BITSTREAM. Select BITSTEREAM when
using the Digital Audio Output.
Be sure to select the correct Digital Output or no audio will be
heard.

ON
Outputs DTS BITSTREAM via only digital output. Select DTS when
connecting to a DTS DECODER.
OFF
Doesn't output digital signal.
DYNAMIC COMPRESSION
ON
To select dynamic compression.
OFF
To select the standard range.
2X SCAN AUDIO
ON
Turn 2 x audio on.
OFF
PAL Only
Turn 2 x audio off.
Though 2 x SCAN AUDIO is ON in SETUP MENU, no sound will be heard
on discs which are recorded with LPCM or DTS.

TV ASPECT : Depending on the type of television you have, you may
want to adjust the screen setting (aspect ratio).
ANGLE MARK : Use to turn on or off the on-screen displays when DVDs
plays multiple angles of a particular scene.
STILL MODE : Prevent picture shaking in still mode and display small
text clearer.
SCREEN MESSAGES : Use to turn on-screen messages on or off.

QUASI – PAL (PAL Only)

TV ASPECT
4:3 LETTER BOX :
Select when you want to see the total 16:9 ratio screen DVD supplies,
even though you have a TV with a 4:3 ratio screen. Black bars will
appear at the top and bottom of the screen.
4:3 PAN-SCAN :
Select this for conventional size TVs when you want to see the central
portion of the 16:9 screen.
(Extreme left and right sides of movie picture will be cut off.)
16:9 WIDE :
You can view the full 16:9 picture in your widescreen TV.
ANGLE MARK
ON : Displays ANGLE MARK in the upper right corner of screen.
OFF : Doesn't display it.
STILL MODE
FIELD : Select this feature when the screen shakes in the AUTO
mode.
FRAME : Select this feature when you want to see small letters more
clearly in the AUTO mode.
AUTO : When selecting AUTO, FIELD/FRAME mode will be automati-
cally converted.
Setting up display options
SCREEN MESSAGES
Use this feature to turn the on-screen displays that appear in screen on
or off.
BLACK LEVEL
Adjust the brightness of screen.
QUASI – PAL (PAL Only)
Depending on a disc, you can play a NTSC DVD disc by QUASI-PAL
mode.

Using the 3D Sound Function

The simulated surround effect depends on the disc contents.
This function is enhance sound quality and produce a greater
surround effect.
(Discs which are recorded with LPCM or DTS will not work.
When DIGITAL OUTPUT is set on BITSTREAM in SETUP MENU,
3D Sound function will not work.)
