A Completely New Onkyo Player Range
—Providing a Reliable, Quality Solution for Every Scenario
The Full Potential of 1080p Video from Blu-ray Disc
(DV-BD606)
Onkyo's first Blu-ray Disc player outputs full high-definition 1080p video (at
24 frames per second for movies) directly to one of Onkyo's high-definition
capable A/V receivers or a high-definition display. Besides bringing reliability
and stability, this player completes the chain in the Onkyo
high-definition experience with the most detailed, vivid
images ever seen in home entertainment.
HDMI
(High-Definition Multimedia Interface) Providing
the Ultimate A/V Connection
(DV-BD606, DV-CP706, DV-SP506, DV-SP406)
You'll find HDMI on all recently released Onkyo players.
HDMI will output high-def, standard-def, and upscaled
video signals directly to your display, projector, or A/V
receiver. For all your video needs, only one cable is needed
to plug into your HDMI-enabled Onkyo player and only
one into the display device. This means less unsightly cable
mess and a straightforward connection process.
1080p Video Upscaling for High-Definition Resolution
(DV-BD606, DV-CP706, DV-SP506, DV-SP406)
If you've already invested in an HDTV, or are planning to in the near future, a
1080p upscaling Onkyo player is the perfect vehicle for getting the best from
your display. You can either watch your video source in its native resolution, or
you can upscale it to 1080p video resolution. You have the best of both
worlds, even from your standard definition DVD discs.
Multi-Format Playback Capability*
(DV-BD606, DV-CP706, DV-SP506, DV-SP406)
From Blu-ray Disc and DVD videos to audio CDs, Onkyo players enable
playback of a range of formats. You can even play multichannel DVD-Audio
and Super Audio CD, high resolution audio formats preferred by the
audiophile. On a different level, MP3-, WMA-, and AAC-encoded music discs
can be played back with a fuller sound, and with energy lacking on PCs and
portable music devices. Also, you can easily transfer DivX
files from your computer to your
home theater. Likewise, your JPEG
files look stunning when played back
on a large screen.
*Capability depends on specific model.
VLSC (Vector Linear Shaping Circuitry)
(DV-CP706, DV-SP506)
Unlike what you'll find elsewhere, Onkyo's VLSC significantly reduces pulse
noise from digital signals. If you think of your player as the first link in your
home entertainment chain, it makes sense to ensure that the signal is
delivered in all its purity. By doing so, you'll add more depth and clarity to all
your music sources (including digital music files)
and movie soundtracks.
RIHD (Remote Interactive over HDMI) for System
Integration with RIHD-Compatible Onkyo A/V Receivers
and Brand-Name Displays (DV-CP706, DV-SP506)
Onkyo's RIHD system control function enables easy integration with
compatible A/V receivers and leading brand-name displays, including selected
Sharp models and models with Panasonic VIERA Link
capability. RIHD functionality allows your system to be connected via HDMI,
for straightforward integration and operation of
multiple components.
*Panasonic VIERA Link is the new name for EZ Sync.
Disc Navigator for Easy Access to Video and Audio
Content (DV-CP706, DV-SP506, DV-SP406)
Disc Navigator is a system that lets you view, search, and select all your media
via an intuitive onscreen display. It's also very useful when you're browsing
computer-based content, including WMA, MP3, DivX, and JPEG files. When
these files are burned to disc, the content is often held within multiple folders.
Disc Navigator makes browsing and selecting digital files simple and systematic.
Simultaneous Output from All Video Connections*
(DV-CP706, DV-SP506)
This feature allows you to simultaneously send the same video source to
different displays via different outputs—from HDMI, component video,
S-Video, and composite video.
*Depending on setting
Burr-Brown 192 kHz/24-Bit Audio DACs for Superior
Audio Quality (DV-SP506)
In line with Onkyo's emphasis on sound quality, the DV-SP506 incorporates
three Burr-Brown 192 kHz/24-bit audio DACs with an advanced Texas
Instruments DAC architecture (PCM1796).These DACs, once
found only in our high-end A/V receivers, promote excellent
dynamic performance and improve tolerance to clock jitter.
Internal Design Considerations to Mitigate Digital Noise
®
-encoded video
and Suppress Vibrations (DV-CP706, DV-SP506)
In both the DV-CP706 and DV-SP506, particular attention has been paid to the
internal circuit layout, so as to prevent the influence of digital noise from the
circuitry and power supplies. The DV-SP506 even has its disc drive mounted on
a thick elastomer base to protect internal circuitry from vibrations.
480i Video Output for Processing by Advanced Scaling
Devices (DV-CP706, DV-SP506)
If you prefer to have your video signal upscaled by a more advanced
component, such as one of Onkyo's A/V receivers, you can have the
DV-CP706 or DV-SP506 output the video signal in its native resolution
of 480i.
