BASS DRUM MIC
To use the bass drum mic effectively, fi rst attach
-40
it to a compact/short microphone stand. Next,
place the microphone slightly inside the kick
drum port.
-50
Adjust the mic's direction accordingly: direct it
towards the beater for increased attack or angle
dB
it towards the far edge of the drum for a richer,
-60
resonant tone.

TOM/SNARE MIC
Attach the mounting clips to each microphone,
-40
ensuring the mic faces the clip end. Fix each mic
onto the hoop of a tom or snare drum. Adjust
the mic-to-drumhead distance and angle as
-50
required. Aim each mic towards the centre of
the drumhead for optimal results.

CONDENSER MIC
Secure the microphone clips onto a pair of
-40
tripod boom stands by screwing the mic clips
in place. Insert the condenser microphones
into the clips and arrange them in one of the
-50
following setups:
dB
-60
Using both as overheads: A common technique
is to position the mics equidistant from the
snare, with the snare as the central focus,
-70
typically around 4 feet apart initially. It's
essential to maintain a vertical mic position,
remembering that you're capturing not only the
-80
cymbals but the entire drum kit.
Assigning one for the hi-hat and one for
overhead: For the hi-hat, place the condenser
mic 2-3 inches above the top cymbal and
towards its outer edge. As for the overhead mic,
position it above the cymbals, typically above
the rack toms. If there's an imbalance in cymbal
distribution across the kit, favour the side with
more cymbals when placing the overhead mic.
Please note: These microphones require
activation of 48V phantom power from the
mixer or interface for proper operation.
