Setup
1. Remove kit from packaging and ensure that all parts are present. See reverse page
for a parts list.
2. Attach Feed Tube to one end of Filter Cell (either end).
3. Attach the Drain Tube with Clamp to the bottom end of the Filter Cell.
4. Attach the Permeate Tube with Clamp to the top side port (near the Feed Tube).
5. Place cap tightly on bottom side port (near bottom Drain Tube).
6. Secure Filter Cell vertically so the Feed Tube is situated at the top.
7. Attach Feed Tube to the sample pump feed line.
8. Place Permeate Tube and the Drain Tube into a waste container.
Filtering the Sample (Figure 1)
Safety Precaution: Wear safety glasses.
1. Ensure that clamps are open on both the Permeate and the Drain Tubes.
2. Start feed pump.
3. When a steady stream of water comes out of the bottom Drain Tube, pinch its clamp
shut.
4. The filtered liquid will continue to flow out of the Permeate Tube until you have
processed the entire sample. DO NOT try to sample until filter clogs.
Safety Precaution: Do not exceed 10 psi.
5. When done sampling, lift the Feed Tube from the liquid.
6. Allow the pump to continue running for 5 seconds after the liquid stops flowing out of
the Permeate Tube.
7. Turn off pump.
8. Allow Filter Cell to rest for 10 seconds before continuing to the next step.
Collecting the Sample (Figure 2)
Safety Precaution: Do not elute a clogged Filter Cell. Wear safety glasses.
1. Keep the Filter Cell vertical to the ground with the Feed Tube on top, grasp the Feed
Tube fitting firmly with a paper towel and slowly disconnect it from the Filter Cell
(pressure will vent as you remove the fitting).
2. Pinch the Permeate Tube Clamp closed.
3. Screw the LVC Can Interface tightly into the top of the Filter Cell.
4. Remove the Drain Tube.
5. Place a 250 mL or larger sample container under the bottom port of the Filter Cell to
catch the final concentrated sample.
6. To Elute, firmly press the Elution Fluid Can down into the LVC Interface. Apply
constant firm pressure until all foam and all the CO
Elution Fluid Can and into the final sample vial.
