Do not use your equipment if it appears damaged. If the equipment does not work when you first switch on AC power, completely isolate it from the AC mains supply by removing the plug from the AC power outlet, then contact Spirent Global Services.
2.6 Fuse rating Spirent fits T xAH yVAC fuses to the AC power inlets. You must replace fuses with an approved fuse of the same type and rating. For users located outside the USA, you must fit a fuse approved to EN60127. For users located in the USA, you must fit a fuse approved to UL248.
-40 to 60°C (-40 to 140°F) 20 to 90% RH (non-condensing) Spirent recommend you always operate your equipment in a controlled environment that conforms to the parameters in the table above. Do not use your equipment outside the operating parameters in the table above (for example, in a tropical or cold environment).
Remove any accumulated dust using a vacuum cleaner. Spirent recommend you inspect the heat sink fitted to each signal generator card on a regular basis. Dust build-up on these heat sinks could adversely affect the operation of your signal generator, eventually leading to thermal shutdown.
Including feet: 198 (7.8) 2.13 Embedded Host BIOS battery The Embedded Host uses a battery to store BIOS settings. Should this battery fail, your GSS7000 signal generator will continue to function as normal. Spirent recommend replacing the BIOS battery every three years. The installed PosApp software contains a warning feature that alerts the requirement to change the battery three years after date of build, calibration or BIOS battery replacement.
Spirent simulator products meet the requirements of the European Union (EU) Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive. The WEEE Directive requires Spirent to label products placed on the EU market after 13th August 2005 with this ‘wheeled bin’ symbol: This symbol indicates the product contains material that presents an environmental concern.
The GSS7000 signal generator supports the following channels on an individually licensed basis: BeiDou B1I, BeiDou B2I, BeiDou B3I, BeiDou B1C and BeiDou B2a Galileo E1, Galileo E5 (currently, the GSS7000 signal generator is limited to 16 channels for Galileo E5) GLONASS L1, GLONASS L2 ...
USB2 and USB3 ports Two Ethernet ports, one for general network connectivity, one for use with Spirent products PosApp running on the Embedded Host requires that the engine runs on a real-time Linux operating system, while the GUI runs on the Windows operating system. Separate Embedded Host processor cores (one each for engine and GUI)
85°C. In the unlikely event of a thermal shutdown, Spirent recommends you do not restart the signal generator for at least one hour. If the problem persists, contact Spirent Global Services.
3.4 DC power rail indicators DC power rail indicators are only visible with the GSS7000 side covers removed. You must look through the slot in the side casing shown in the figure below (front panel is on the left-hand side) to see the DC power rail indicators.

4.1 Front panel GSS7000 signal generators have single, or (optionally) dual, RF Out ports. Each RF Out port is a "composite" output port, with all satellite channels available on this port, together with any signal you apply to the rear panel EXT RF IN port. Each RF out port is the normal connection point for your device under test.
SAFETY WARNING You must ensure any connection to a rear panel port is within the SELV limits of IEC62368. The following figure shows the rear panel of a GSS7000 signal generator. Spirent might not fit all connectors for certain configurations.
The following tables describe all rear panel connectors. It groups the connectors into nominal groupings as viewed when looking at the rear panel. Where a port is identified as having a terminator during testing, Spirent recommends that you keep the port terminated when not in use to maintain the system’s performance.

In addition, you can set any of the above to run as: Ungated: continuously running Gated: only present while a scenario is running The default timer settings for a stand-alone GSS7000 signal generator are: Timer 1: 1PPS UNGATED Timer 2: 1PPS UNGATED ...
4.2.2 USB port assignment You must assign each available GSS7000 signal generator USB port to either Linux or Windows whenever you insert a USB device. The GSS7000 Embedded Host automatically recognises connection of a USB keyboard and mouse; you do not need to assign these USB devices.

USB port to Linux, such as when using a USB to RS232 adapter for GBAS messages when using a GSS4150 GBAS Landing System VDB signal generator with the GSS7000 signal generator. Following the steps in this section will reset the current USB port assignments for all USB ports on the GSS7000 Embedded Host.
In normal operation, indicators 1 to 10 for each page will be on. An indicator that is off shows there is an error. Note: In the event of a fault, Spirent recommends you take a photograph of each page. Spirent might request copies of these photographs to assist in fault-finding.

5.3 Synchronising from external equipment GSS7000 signal generators incorporate input and output signal ports that you can use in various ways to synchronise time between your signal generator and the rest of your system. This section describes how to use the 1PPS IN and TRIGGER IN rear panel ports to achieve synchronisation.
Using the GSS7000 GSS7000 Signal Generator Hardware Manual You can start a scenario either by appropriate timing of the Run command (Trigger Mode: Disabled) or by selecting Delayed Trigger Mode and applying a rising edge to the TRIGGER IN rear panel port. Both cause the scenario to start on the next one-second rollover of the timer.
