6. See figures 4 & 5. Install the mower drive "belt (A) over
the inside groove of the power take off pulley around the
idler pulleys, and the mower drive pulley. As you install the
mower drive belt be sure it is twisted as shown.
7. See figure 3- Full bach on the spring tension lever (A), It
will lock in position as shown in Figure 3 to pul tension on
the mower drive belt.
8. See figure 6, If the mower is to be transported, raise the
sickle bar with the tractor lift and hook at (A) as shown to
hold the cutler bar up.
REMOVING THE SICKLE BAR MOWER
CAUTION: BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO ADJUST, SER¬
VICE, OR REMOVE THE MOWER, BE SURE THE EN¬
GINE IS SHUT OFF, THE PARKING BRAKE SET, AND

1. See figure 6. Unhook the transport chain [A) and lower
the cutter bar. Store the transport chain inside the tractor
frame and place the hook as shown in figure 2at(F). Place
the tractor lift in the lowered position.
2. See figure 3, Push downward on the spring tension lever
(A) to release the spring tension on the' mower drive belt.
3. See figure 4. Remove the mower drive belt (A) from the
mower drive pulley, idler pulleys, and power take off pulley.
4. See figure 3. Position the spring tension lever (A) as shown
in figure 3.
5. See figure 2. Remove the pin and spring dtp at (E) to re¬
lease lift cable (B) from the tractor lift arm. Remove spring
clip and pin (D) and pulley [C) and remove the cable from
inside pulley (C). Reinstall pulley (C) and pin (D) and secure
with a spring clip,
6. See figure 2. Remove spring clip and pin (G).
7. See figure 1- Remove two spring clips (B) and pins (A) to
disconnect the sickle bar mower from the tractor front axle..
Slide the sickle bar mower out from under the right siddof *
the tractor.

OPERATION
BEFORE OPERATING THE MOWER
1. Read this manual and the owner's manual for your-trac-
tor carefully. Be sure you are familiar with the safety pre¬
cautions controls and operating inst rue dons.'
2. Check the mower carefully to be sure it is properly in¬
stalled.
3. Be sure the tractor tires are properly inflated as explained
in the tractor owner's manual.

4. Be sure the cutter bar knives are properly sectioned'be- ;'
tween the guards as explained on page 5 under sickle knife
register adjustment,
5. Check the condition of the sickle knife; The knives should
be tight and sharp.
6. Complete all the lubrication requirements found in the
maintenance instructions on page S of this manual, unless
you are certain they have been performed recently.

7. Clear the area to be cut of all sticks, stones,.- wire and other
debris which might be caught by the sickle bar. Mark clearly ■
any objects which cannot be removed-
8. Determine the best method of mowing according to the
dimensions, terrain, and obstructions of the area to be
mowed.
OPERATING THE TRACTOR AND MOWER
TRANSPORTING THE SICKLE BAR MOWER
The sickle bar mower may be transported short distances
such as across a field at moderate speed with the cutter bar
raised at an angle as shown in figure 7 by using the tractor
lift system, Tf the mower is to be transported greater dis¬
tances the cutter bar should be raised to the vertical posi-

6. The tractor lift should be raised enough to lift the sickle
bar off the ground any time the mower is being transported.
CAUTJON: USE CARE WHEN RAISING THE SICKLE
BAR TO INSURE YOUR HANDS ARE CLEAR OF THE
SICKLE KNIVES.THE KNIVES ARE VERY SHARP AND
CAN MOVE AND CAUSE INJURY WHILE THE SICKLE
BAR IS BEING RAISED.
