    1.6 ECU LOCATION The ECU is located on the right-hand side of the cockpit. The ECU has been made accessible so that it can be easily removed when the engine is rebuilt for example. To remove the ECU, pull the silver clip away and fold to an upright position, then the ECU should rotate around on the inside edge until it releases on the opposing side.

RUNNING YOUR CAR Upon delivery of your new car it is recommended you check the following items: If the car has been shipped, be sure to check the toe geometric setup of the front and rear wheels, it is possible that the securing straps may have been overtightened and pulled the car out of alignment.     2.1 PRE-SESSION CHECKS Despite all the thorough checks which are carried out on all our cars before they leave the factory, it is important you also do some basic checks before you take the car to the track every time. Torque the wheels to 80ft/lb.

    2.2 DRIVER CONTROLS S T A R T I N G T H E CA R To start the car, turn on the master switch and wait for the dash to load. Switch down the ignition toggle. You can now press the starter button to turn over the starter motor. I M P OR T A N T N OT E As with any race car, it is important to put the car in neutral and release the clutch when stationary.

    S T OP P I N G T H E CA R Upon stopping leave the engine running for at least 15 seconds if possible, to prevent it from heat soaking. In hot climate, keep checking the temperatures once engine was turned off and re-start if necessary to circulate the coolant.

    3. NEW CAR SHAKEDOWN At Radical, we pride ourselves on our quality control and rigorous testing procedures that we have in place for every new car. All new cars are subject to a 100 point post production inspection and track simulation on our rolling road dynamometer prior to delivery.

    6.10 INTRAX DAMPER D A M P I N G A D J U S T M EN T P R OCED U R E Please read and make sure to understand the manual for damping first before changing the damping. Changing the damping will change the handling and road holding characteristics of your car.

    7. CAR SERVICING 7.1 FILTER SERVICING Oil Ch an ge - We recommend changing engine oil every 10 hours. To do this remove the large oil pipe from the bottom of the oil tank, located in the right-side pod, underneath the engine cover. There will be a small amount of oil left in the engine, to drain the last bit of oil remove the 17mm sump bung on the side of the sump pan.

    7.2 IMPORTANT MAINTENANCE TIPS Below are some additional tips in order to help with the general running of the vehicle to ensure reliability. o It is VITAL to check the chain tension after every run. The chain can sometimes slacken off during extensive running and will therefore require a small amount of tension to be applied by tightening the rear lower differential mounting nuts.

    7.3 ADJUSTING THE CHAIN TENSION 1. To adjust the chain the top differential bolts must be loosened on both sides. 2. Next loosen the large 24mm nuts on both sides. to increase or reduce the slack in the chain. 4. When tightening the bolts ensure the differential is pushed all the way forward 24mm nuts on both sides.

    7.5 CHANGING THE FRONT SPROCKET In order to change the front sprocket, first remove the M8 countersunk bolt inside the nut on the sprocket. (It is important to be careful when removing this bolt due to the thread containing Loctite; it is recommended to heat up the area slightly in order to make removal easier.

    7.10 CHECKING THE STARTER MOTOR AFTER A SPIN In the event of a spin, if the clutch is not depressed and the engine spins backwards, there is a chance that the starter and opposing gears can get damaged. If there are any doubts over whether the engine is damaged after a spin, it should not be started again prior to inspecting the starter motor.

    8.2 CHARGING ISSUES The SR1 should be charging between 13.5-14.5 V when running on circuit. If you see it running below this, harging voltage in this section. Follow the below guide on how to diagnose the problem and deciding on the solution. When checking the car is charging, hold the RPM above 3000rpm.

    Is it shifting through all gears? Or just having trouble with one specific gear? If one specific gear this suggests it may be a mechanical issue and it is strongly advised to contact an authorised Radical engine shop for more advice on what to do.     9.13 REPLACING CALIPER SEALS The following guide is the recommendation for replacing the seals in their calipers: Extend pistons for easy removal unbolt callipers, take out brake pads and place a block in the caliper to prevent pistons from falling out. Then pump the pedal until all pistons are extended 10- 15mm (or carefully use an airline in the fluid inlet if the callipers are off the vehicle).
