Operating & Safety Guide
Before use
If you have not used a fan heater
before, familiarise yourself fully with
how the equipment works before use.
Plan your work ahead to make sure
you are always working safely.
Never use this equipment outdoors.
Do not use it In damp or wet areas
nor in a dusty environment. Do not
use where there is a risk of fire or
explosion e.g. if flammable vapours
such as petrol or paint thinner fumes
are present.
Check the condition of the RCD,
plug, cable and heater before use. If
there are any signs of damage, do
not use and contact HSS Hire.
Site the heater on a firm level
surface, in a safe place away from
walls or other obstructions to prevent
them from being scorched or burnt.
Always stand the heater in an upright
position. Adjust the unit angle up 20
degrees, using the side handle
knobs.
The heater can become very hot.
Place it at a safe distance from
flammable objects such as furniture,
curtains etc. Protect other people
from the heat. Warn others to keep
away, put barriers up if necessary.
Keep children, animals and
bystanders away from the work area.
This heater will provide a steady flow
of hot air into an unobstructed space.
It can be used for heating and drying
areas. Do not use it for drying
objects e.g. clothes. When drying an
area, you must allow adequate
ventilation for the evaporated
moisture to disperse.
Ensure the heater and power socket
are switched OFF before plugging in
and set the thermostat to the desired
output level.
Using the Fan Heater
This heater features thermostatically
controlled output and a tilt sensor,
which will cut power if there is a fault
with the heat output or if the fan
heater is tilted or moved sharply.
Check on how the on/off switch
operates before first use, you must
know how to switch it off. Keep
cables out of harm's way, and clear
of the work area.
Do not cover or block air intakes and
outlets while the heater is in use.
Leave a 300mm gap all round to let
air circulate. Never aim the heater
directly at carpet or other heat
sensitive surfaces. Do not stand
anything on top of the heater. Do not
allow anyone to stand in front of the
hot airflow, they may be burnt.
Do not leave unattended. HSS Hire
strongly advise switching the heater
off for ten minutes every hour, to
guard against overheating.
While using, and for some time after
use, avoid touching parts of the
heater, which will remain very hot.
Take care not to accidently pull the
plug from the socket.
If the heater fails, or if you think the
cable may be damaged in any way,
switch off and unplug before
inspecting. If the cable is damaged,
stop using immediately and contact
HSS Hire. Never try to repair it
yourself.
After use
Switch off, remove the plug and allow
the heater to cool before moving it.
The heater will remain hot for some
time after use. Make sure no-one
touches it. When unplugging the
heater pull the plug, not the supply
cable.
