Switch settings for base address
The X–COM–2 uses an 8-byte address for each port. COMA is the address
selected by the DIP switches on Switch 3. COMB address is 8h greater than
COMA (COMA address + 8h). See example below.
Positions 1 through 6 on Switch 3 select the COMA address. Available
addresses range from 100h to 3F0h, in 16-byte increments (100h, 110h, 120h,
130h, ..., 3F0h). Table 2–3 shows the switch settings for the COMA address.
The X in the table shows the value for each switch. Setting a switch to On
selects the corresponding value for the COMA address. By default the X–
COM–2 card is set for 3F0h (all switches On). This corresponds to 3F0h for
COMA and 3F8h for COMB.
The default setting of COMB at 3F8 will conflict with the host
system COM1 if it is set at the usual address of 3F8. Ensure that
you do not have a base address conflict between your system
and the device before installing the device.
