Connecting 5.2 Connecting principle Load cells with four-wire system Do not shorten or length connecting cables in the four-wire system, because the cable resistance is temperature compensated. When the length of the connecting cable is altered, the input and output resistances change. This change can be corrected by adjusting the scale, but temperature-dependent resistance changes are not compensated for the missing or additional length of cable.

Regular inspection and checking of the mechanisms for force transfer, oscillation limitation, lifting and overloading will however improve their reliability.
