    I. SAFETY Roth Touchline® SL Control system must always be installed by a qualified person. The controller must always be mounted on a wall or in a cabinet in a secure way. WARNING Risk of fatal electric shock from touching live connections. Before working on the controller switch off the power supply and prevent it from being accidentally switched on.

    II. SYSTEM CONFIGURATION The Roth Touchline® SL system can be used for installations of different sizes. Systems consisting of more Controllers can be set up using either wireless connection or BUS cable connection if the distances are too large or there are difficult physical conditions such as reinforced concrete.

  • Page 9 Step 5. Configure the settings for the temperature sensors and the room regulators. To enable the Roth controller - master to control a given zone, it is necessary to provide it with current temperature value. The easiest way is to use a room thermostat, where the user will be able to change the pre-set temperature value directly on the thermostat.

When the pre-set temperature value in a zone is reached, the controller labels the zone as sufficiently heated and the status remains unchanged until the temperature drops below the pre-set temperature by the hysteresis value.

    Global schedule Here you can choose to let the zone follow one of the 5 (G1 – G5) predefined global schedules. You can choose “Select” immediately, “Preview” if you want to see the schedule first or “Edit” if you want to edit the schedule. Editing of the schedule is described in chapter “VII Schedule settings”.

    Activating this function means that at the time of pre-programmed change of the pre-set temperature determined by the schedule, the current room temperature will be close to the desired value.     2.9. WINDOW SENSORS Here you have the possibility to add and control up to 6 Roth Touchline® SL Window contacts to the zone. For more specific information about installation and setup of the window sensors please see the manual delivered together with this product.

    If you have an Roth Touchline® SL Standard IR thermostat this is also where you register the integrated IR sensor. In connection with the Roth Touchline® SL Project room thermostat you can also connect a separate wireless Roth Touchline® SL Project floor sensor to a zone if needed.

    2.10.3 OPERATING MODE Operating mode for the cabled floor sensor can be set set to either “OFF”, “Floor protection” or “Comfort”. Choose the required mode using ▼ – press MENU. Operating mode for the integrated IR floor sensor can be set to either “OFF” or “Comfort”. The IR sensor isn’t secure enough to be used for floor protection.

    4.2 INTERNET MODULE If you want to be able to control your system remotely you must connect a Roth Touchline® SL WiFi module to the system.     9.7 Antifreeze protection If there is no signal from the thermostat or sensor in the zone for 12 hours - then the antifreeze mode is activated. In this mode the actuators open for 15 minutes, then close for 45 minutes, until communication between the thermostat/sensor and the controller returns.

    If it is needed parameters for Modbus communication can be changed in the “Service menu” > “Modbus”. Slave address Default “1”. Can be set between 1 and 247. Word length Default “8-bit word”. Can also be set to 9-bit word. Parity bit Default “Even parity bit”.

    10.1. Master module – additional contacts It is possible to add up to 6 additional contacts to control/switch for example external boilers, pumps, actuators etc. Please contact Roth if you have questions to this possibility. 10.2. Extension modules Please see point 4.1 under Modules menu.
  • Page 29 “CO in heating/cooling” input. The signal must be a potential-free signal (ie. without current) and be “normal open” by default. When a signal is given from the cooling unit, the switch will be closed and the Roth Touchline® SL system will switch to cooling operation.
  • Page 30 Setting of max. humidity When using thermostats and/or sensors with build in humidity sensors in each room, it is possible to protect the floor construction against moisture generation during cooling in each single room. To do this it is necessary to specify a maximum value for the humidity. This maximum value applies to the entire plant (globally). In order to set the value correctly, it is important to relate to the actual switch over room temperature and the preset minimum flow temperature (set on the heat pump or cooling device), respectively.

    10.13. DHW settings Output nr. 8 on the master controller can be used to switch on a domestic hot water (DHW) boiler. With this function enabled the output will send a signal to heat the water during the times choosen. The signal is only an on/off signal so the domestic hot water tank should have a built-in thermostat to switch off when the set temperature is reached.
