VenaCure EVLT Quick Reference Guide
For VenaCure 1470 nm lasers with Fiber Recognition System (FRS)

Setting Up the Laser

Make sure everything is plugged in:
> Power cord
> Footswitch
> Interlock switch

Turn power ON (above power cord), then turn key to initiate self-test.

Make sure laser is in an accessible location and foot switch is near the physician.

Once the sheath is properly positioned within the vessel, pass fiber to sterile field and remove
black rubber tip.

Pull down the laser aperture cover and screw the laser fiber SMA connector, making sure that
it is finger tight.

Ensure laser says "Valid Fiber. Maximum uses remaining: 1."

Select Main Menu (by pressing Scroll/Confirm button when highlighted).

First time use only:
> Scroll to and select "Set-up Menu"
> Scroll to and select "Pulsed Sound"– set beeps to desired seconds
> Scroll to and select "Energy Display" or "Elapsed Time"
> Select "Enable" and "Accept"; select "Back" to get to Main Menu

Confirm EVLT is enabled and in Continuous mode. Select "Continue". Confirm power is at desired watts.
10 Make sure everyone in the room (including the patient) is wearing 1470 nm safety goggles.
11 Select "Confirm" and then press the Standby/Ready button to put laser into Ready mode.
The aiming beam will come on and may be visible through the patient's skin.
12 The physician can then depress the foot switch to fire the laser.
After Laser Treatment
13 Press the Standby/Ready button to put the laser back in Standby mode.
14 Confirm physician is finished with fiber; detach the fiber from the laser.
15 Select "Back" to get to Main Menu, select "Statistics" and then "Display Current Statistics"
("Previous Treatment" also available).
16 Record Power, Energy and Duration for each Setup within Treatment. (Scroll to view all Setups.)
17 Turn power OFF and remove key from laser.
