INTRODUCTION
The Extech EX840A measures AC/DC Current, AC/DC Voltage, Re-
sistance/Continuity, Capacitance, Diode, Frequency, and Tempera-
ture (IR detection and Type K thermocouple). The double moulded
case is designed for heavy duty use.

SAFETY
WARNING
• For indoor use only.
• Improper use of this meter can cause damage, shock, injury or death.
• Set the function switch to the appropriate position before measuring.
• When measuring voltage do not switch to the current or resistance modes.
• Do not measure current on a circuit whose voltage > 600 V.
• When changing ranges, always disconnect the test leads from the circuit
under test.
• Voltage checks on electrical outlets can be difficult and misleading be-
cause of the uncertainty of connection to the recessed electrical contacts.
If connection to the contacts is not made, the outlet may be live when the
meter indicates no voltage.
