Set the tool' s hammer control – to '1' for percussion
drilling into masonry or to '0' for normal rotary drilling
into other materials.
To start drilling, simply position the drill bit and
squeeze the ON/OFF trigger.
To stop drilling, withdraw the bit from the hole
and release the ON/OFF trigger.
Hold the machine with both hands, making sure the
handles are free from grease and oil.
Adopt a comfortable, stable stance when working
– one that gives a good view of whatever you are
working on. It' s easier, safer and gives better results.
If possible, drape the air hose over one shoulder to
keep it clear of the drill bit.
Keep the whole of your body clear of the bit at all
times. Take special care if standing anywhere other than
on a firm, level footing.
Let the tool do the work. Apply just enough pressure
to ensure reasonable progress – too much or too little
could overheat and/or blunt the bit.
If the tool strikes a hidden object, stop work
immediately and check to make sure everything is safe
before continuing.
Take your time. Rushing a job tends to produce poor
results and increases the risk of serious accident.
Take regular breaks and don't over do it. You
are more likely to have an accident if you are suffering
from fatigue.
If you should experience numbness or discomfort
during use, stop work and take a break.
In a Jam?
If the drill bit should become jammed in the work,
stop drilling immediately and release the bit from the
tool' s chuck. You should now be able to lever it out
using a pair of pliers. Never use the tool' s body as a
lever.
EQUIPMENT CARE
Never push the equipment beyond its design
limits. If it will not do what you want with reasonable
ease, assume you have the wrong tool for the job.
Contact your local HSS Hire Shop for advice.
Handle the equipment with care. Avoid dropping it,
knocking it, or otherwise exposing it to damage.
Avoid drilling continuously for long periods. From
time to time, run the tool with the drill bit clear of the
work to allow the bit to cool.
Always stop the tool before changing the hammer
action setting.
Never expose the equipment to dangerous and/or
corrosive chemicals.
Keep the equipment clean. You will find this less of a
chore if you clean up regularly, rather than wait until the
end of the hire period.
Do not use the tool if it' s dust-protection cap is
damaged. Return it to your local HSS Hire Shop.
When not in use, store the equipment somewhere
clean, dry and safe from thieves.
FINISHING OFF
Switch OFF the compressor, Squeeze the on/off trigger
to depressurize the system, then remove the bit
from the chuck.
Disconnect the air hose from both drill and
compressor, coiling it neatly without kinks.
Finally, clean the equipment with a damp cloth
(never use cleaning agents) ready for return to your local
HSS Hire Shop.
