SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
• Do not walk, run or talk during the measurement.
• Do not allow the thermometer to fall on the floor. The
thermometer is not shock-resistant or impact-resistant.
• The thermometer contains small parts (batteries etc.)
that could be swallowed by children. Do not leave the
device unattended with children.
• Protect the thermometer against high temperatures
and direct sunlight.
• Do not open the device (except when changing the
battery).
• Using the thermometer in a way that does not comply
with the intended operating conditions can result in
inaccurate measurements.
• The use of this device in the vicinity of mobile phones,
microwaves or other devices with strong electromag-
netic fields can cause malfunctions. Maintain a distance
of at least three metres from such devices when using
the thermometer.
• Keep the thermometer in the plastic case.
MEASURING POINTS
In the anus (rectal)
Carefully insert the measuring tip 1–2 cm into the anus.
Minimum measuring time: 10 seconds.
In the mouth (oral/sublingual)
For at least 10 minutes before taking the measurement,
do not consume any hot or cold food and drink. Insert
the measuring tip into one of the two heat pockets un-
der the tongue to the left or right of the tongue root.
Close your mouth and breathe softly through your nose.
Minimum measuring time: 20 seconds.
Under the arm (axillary)
The skin must be completely dry. Place the tip under the
arm, so that it is fully in contact with the skin. The ther-
mometer should be at right angles to the body. Place the
arm across the chest, so that the tip is tightly covered.
Minimum measurement time: 3 minutes.
MEASURING THE TEMPERATURE
Press the on/off button to switch on the thermometer.
A short signal tone confirms that the thermometer is
switched on. At the same time, all signals on the dis-
play are illuminated as a visual functionality check. An
internal test value of 36.5 °C is then displayed and the
thermometer switches to measuring mode. Insert the
thermometer at the relevant measuring site. During the

measurement, the flashing „°C" symbol indicates the
current temperature on the display. If the temperature
increase is less than 0.1 °C within 4 seconds, a signal
tone will sound. During rectal measurements, the sig-
nal tone indicates the approximate final temperature;
the measurement changes only marginally after this
point. By contrast, the minimum measuring time must
be complied with for oral and axillary measurements. At
temperatures below 37.5 °C, the normal signal tone will
sound (4 long, even tones). At temperatures of 37.5 °C
and higher, the fever alarm will sound (24 short tones in
sets of three). Read out the measurement. The thermom-
eter switches off automatically after approximately 10
minutes. You can also switch off the device before this
by pressing the on/off button. The measured tempera-
ture is saved until the next measurement.
RETRIEVING THE LAST MEASUREMENT
With the thermometer switched off, press and hold the
on/off button for approximately 2 seconds. The last
measurement is displayed together with a small "M"
symbol (M = memory). When the on/off button is re-
leased, an internal test value of 36.5 °C is displayed and
the thermometer switches to measuring mode.
CLASSIFYING THE MEASUREMENTS
37.5 °C to 37.9 °C: increased temperature
38.0 °C to 38.9 °C: moderate fever
39.0 °C and higher: high fever
Rectal temperature measurements are generally 0.5 °C
higher and axillary temperature measurements are
0.5 °C lower than temperatures measured orally.
Caution: It is essential to consult a doctor in cases of
high fever!
REPLACING THE BATTERY
If the symbol appears after all signals have been il-
luminated in the functionality check, a battery replace-
ment is required.
• Pull out the battery compartment cover from the
thermometer.
• Carefully pull out the battery holder approximately
1 cm out of the housing.
• Use a non-metallic object to slide the battery out of
the holder.
• Insert a new battery (type LR41 or SR41; 1.55 V) with
the + symbol facing upwards.
