The RD Compact Hot Rod is an Analogue Amp
Recreation, paying tribute to the modifi ed non-master
volume amps of the '70s and '80s.
1. GET CONNECTED
INSTR - Plug in your guitar or other instrument.
AMP - Connect to your amp, power amp, mixer or
recording interface.
9VDC - Insert 9VDC 2.1mm centre-negative power
supply (minimum 100mA).
2. MATCH THE CONTROLS
Match the pedal controls to the image here as a
starting point for setting up your tone.
3. SET THE POST-DRIVE EQ
Set the POST-DRIVE EQ to suit your application.
Guitar amp or amp modeller:
• Set the POST-DRIVE EQ switch to EQ1 for
brighter sounding amps or EQ2 for darker
sounding amps.
• Turn the ADJ control to fi ne-tune high-frequency
response.
Power amp, recording interface or mixer:
• Set the POST-DRIVE EQ switch to P/AMP.
• Selecting the P/AMP setting disengages the
ADJ control.
• Remember to use a cabinet simulator if playing
through a full-range speaker system such as a PA
or studio monitors.

4. SET YOUR OUTPUT LEVEL
5. SHAPE YOUR VOICE
HIGHS - Adjust the mid and high frequencies with
this preamp voicing control.
Turn anti-clockwise to replicate the shape of a
hot-rodded Marshall
with everything-at-noon.
®
Set to the mid point for a cranked, high-gain
Marshall
Plexi.
®
Turn all the way clockwise for modded Fender
tone.
LOWS - Use the lows knob to adjust low-
frequency overdrive:
Turn up for thick, distorted low-end.
Turn down for a tighter, controlled drive.
6. DIAL IN YOUR OVERDRIVE
GAIN - Turn up and go from clean to cranked,
much like turning up a classic non-master-volume amp.
MORE PRES - This control a ects negative feedback
in the output stage.
Turn clockwise from noon to boost highs like a
classic Presence knob.
Turn anti-clockwise to reduce negative feedback,
resulting in an earlier breakup.
7. BLEND IN YOUR DRIVE
BLEND - Use the BLEND control to mix the
overdrive and dry signals together. The pedal's gain is
simultaneously reduced as more dry signal is mixed in.
